What are the lattices
First of all, the variety of gratings offered by manufacturers should be divided by the manufacturing method:
- made using a welding machine;
- forged.
Based on how they are installed, the grilles can also be divided into:
- fixed tightly;
- those that open;
- sliding.
If only deaf lattices in the whole house or apartment, then this is in the case of an extreme situation: fire or flood, for example, can turn into a tragedy. Therefore, in accordance with the fire safety rules, at least on one of the windows the grate should open in the same way as the window. How much it costs to install the grilles on the windows depends on how you install them: either to invite specialists, or you will do it yourself.
How to install a grate on the windows yourself?
Windows with lattices are not at all cheap pleasure:
- firstly, material and work;
- secondly, the installation itself also requires considerable material costs.
It is quite possible to save on expenses if you purchase a ready -made grille by the size of the windows, and carry out the installation yourself.
What will be required for this?
Tool
Most of what you need, for sure, will be at your home, because in the standard set of tools of each owner there is always a place for:
- roulette;
- level;
- pencil;
- drills and drills for her;
- perhaps you have a screwdriver.
This list does not have enough welding apparatus, and it is necessary, so if its acquisition is not included in your plans, then you will have to borrow somewhere. The fasteners will be required:
- anchor bolts;
- self -tapping screws, but you can do with one bolts, unless the wall is wooden.
What from this you will use depends on the type you have chosen, the method of placing the grill, the material from which the house is built, on what the walls were finished.
Methods of placement of the grill
The lattices are placed:
- outside. At the same time, depending on how the window is installed, the grille is placed between the slopes or directly on the plane of the wall;
- inside;
- between glasses.
When installing the gratings on the windows, the classic scheme provides for their presence on the outer side.
Sometimes how not our desires, but specific circumstances, are dictated to us. Given them, there are such frequently found methods of fastening:
- welding to mortgage metal elements - pins driven into the wall, 12 centimeters long. Only 50 mm remains outside. So attach the grille made by welding. At the same time, the walls should also be strong enough. The method is the most reliable, but by installing the grill, remove it for painting or cleaning, you will no longer be able to. In places of fastening, sometimes rust appears;
- scaming to the same elements using metizes. This method is the most popular if you fix the forged grille;
- use for fastening studs with threads, then it will turn out through. It is used mainly if the house is wooden.
We fasten it with welding
Suppose we purchased a standard lattice: one and a half meters one and a half.
- First cut the pins for a length of 0.12 m;
- along the perimeter of the window opening, we make marks where there will be holes for these embedded parts, applying the grill to it. It is optimal that such holes be 6;
- we drill holes. Their depth is slightly larger than the length of the chopped embedded parts;
- the holes of the same diameter are drilling in the design framing the lattice;
- holding the grill on the opening, we insert the embedded parts, that is, the pins;
- we take the welding machine and finally fix it.
As you had the opportunity to verify, installing welded grilles on the windows, as well as forged, is simply performed.
Important: Do not forget to protect the window during welding. Sheets are applied to it galvanized iron or something else.
Bolts fastening
- The eyes are welded to the frame;
- in the wall we drill holes under the diameter of existing anchor bolts;
- the grate is applied to the wall and a bolt is passed through the eyes to the prepared holes;
- the slots on the hats of the bolts are bolted, then you will need a ball or a hot drill, but you can not bother and the grate will turn out to be removable.
Notice: if you have a wooden house, then use screws instead of anchor bolts.
Through the wall
- We perform a hole passing through the entire wall;
- the frame frame is applied;
- bolts are screwed. The end goes inside the room;
- the nut is wound on the bolt.
As you know, this fastener will be seen in the room that, of course, is a lack of this method. Work is added if your house is lined with Siding Vinilov:
- we drill the holes in the wall very carefully;
- we fix the hairpins with a thread using welding on the lattice frame;
- we put on studs in the form of bushings that will protect siding at the junction;
- we fix the structure using nuts.
So you can install metal lattices on the windows outside and indoors.
Smarts are sliding
A special place is occupied by sliding grilles. The canvases of these interesting gratings are collected as an accordion. Their advantages are as follows:
- in the collected state, the grille decreases by a quarter of its width;
- the window is easy to wash, collecting the grill;
- windows can be discovered that in the sense of fire safety - a great advantage;
- the grate is aesthetic;
- it is produced in any color, so that it is selected under the overall interior.
Peculiarities
- in appearance - this is an ordinary lattice that has vapors of the elements located vertically. The width of the element (strip) is 1.8 cm, and the thickness is 0.4 cm;
- the gap remains between the verticals - 1.8 cm;
- the lattice is assembled due to the presence of mobile connectors-pantographs between the rows of vertical elements;
- rows can be 2 or 5. It depends on the size of the window in height;
- if the grate is closed, then the verticals are 12 cm from each other. All sorts of deviations from this size are undesirable, since the grate will function worse:
- the pairs of vertical elements make movement along the monorails - upper and lower. There are bearings on the lower.
- such a grille is closed on a hinged lock, but it may also have a built -in lock.
Existing models:
- opening in one direction - either to the right, or to the left;
- from the center to the right and left.
Installation
The installation of gratings on the windows with your own hands is possible, in this case, with the apparent complexity of the structure. Install them:
- to the opening;
- on the wall, that is, on the opening.
In the case of a decision on the installation of grilles, the price will include:
- manufacture;
- coloring;
- locks;
- the cost of the material, and if you do not dare to install it yourself, then the installation. Although the installation technology in all gratings is the same and there should not be difficulties.
Double -glazed windows with lattices
It turns out that the grill can be laid in a double -glazed window. It seems like it is convenient:
- The appearance is very decent;
- The grate does not stand out particularly;
- The window opens freely.
- Caring outside the window is very simple.
But in terms of security:
- the lattice does not prevent hacking. Serves, most likely, by decoration, scaring off illiterate thieves;
- if the window is not installed on the window, instead of ordinary accessories, then the thief with experience will break the sash along with the grate in it and will penetrate the apartment;
- even if they want to penetrate the apartment by breaking the glass and stumble upon a bars, which will stop the criminal and the robbery will not take place, you will have to change the glass itself, and this is not cheap.
