The installation of the skirting board is the last touch in the floor decoration. This procedure is performed only after the completion of all previous finishing work. It is the baseboard that allows you to give the room a complete aesthetic appearance. The necessary work on its installation can be done independently. To do this, you need to know some rules for installing a floor skirting board.

Varieties and characteristics of the material
First, consider the existing types of this material. To date, products made of wood are most often used, for example, the floor of the oak, ash, or “cherry” skirting board. Cheaper options are materials made of an array of spruce, covered with veneer.
- For manufacturing skirting board of a wooden floor A whole piece of wood is used. This material has a lot of advantages. One of them is a long service life. Such products can maintain their original appearance for a long time, and when damage occurs, they are easily restored. Of the shortcomings, the high cost and the need to have perfectly even walls during installation should be called. By the way, corners are usually not used when installing such products. For this reason, the adjustment of this skirting board in the corners is much more complicated. The fact is that the angles in the rooms are rarely strictly straight. After pruning the skirting board on Stusl, you have to adjust it with your hands under a specific room. One way or another, an ideal conjugation is unlikely to work out. For this reason, it is best to use putty mixtures in one tone with wood. For the same purpose, color sealants are used.
- For manufacturing veneered material As a basis, inexpensive woods are used. Next, the product is covered with chips made of more expensive wood or other material. Such skirting boards undoubtedly have their advantages, one of which is a relatively low cost. In addition, they can be installed on special fasteners. Of the shortcomings, it is necessary to note the need to comply with the level of humidity and temperature during the installation of products. The reason for this is that the wooden woods are considered unstable. In addition, such skirting boards are not recommended to be placed in a room with a warm floor.
- Quite popular laminated plinths with a base of wood -fiber slab. These products are similar in structure to a laminate. So, on top of the MDF, paper with a certain ornament covered with a layer of melamine is impressed. It allows you to prevent fading of the pattern and protects the material from various physical influences. The advantage of laminated skirting boards is its low price. In addition, it is convenient in installation. However, such products are intended only for installation on a laminated surface. The disadvantage is low moisture resistance and mechanical damage. In addition, due to the fact that such products are covered with melamine, they have a height of up to 58 mm. Therefore, this floor plinth cannot be called high.
- The most economical, perhaps, is the floor is floor plastic. Its dignity include the fact that it is suitable for almost any walls. These products are often used to hide the wiring. It is good because it perfectly tolerates cleaning with detergents of various composition. Such products include, for example, the watering floor skirting. It is obvious that such skirting boards, due to their economy, look somewhat simple. In addition, for their installation, corners and plugs will be needed, which only with their appearance will be released from the overall decor. The maximum height of these products is limited to 44-46 mm. There are only two parts of the plastic skirting plan of the plastic skirting plan: the lower and front. Before installation, they need to be disconnected, then all preparatory work is carried out only with the lower component.
Purchase and choice of material
First, you need to remove the measurements from all the walls on which it is planned to install a skirting board. The number that turns out as a result of measurements must be added 1.6-1.8 meters so that there is a supply. After that, the resulting value should be divided into the length of one plinth bar (according to the standard it is 2.5 m). As a result of such simple calculations, you will get the number of planks for repair.
In addition, do not forget to purchase plugs and corners, as well as various connecting elements. By the way, when calculating the right number of plugs, it should be noted that they are left and right.
Installation of floor skirting boards
Before installing the skirting board, you must make sure that the necessary tools are available. In particular, you will need roulette, marker, drill. You will also need a saw, a screwdriver of low power, a hammer. Consumable materials are no less important - dowels and screws.
The phased procedure for the performance of work:
- Before starting installation work, all garbage in the room should be removed, which can cause the irregularity of the installed skirting board.
- When the area is prepared, you can proceed to the pruning of the baseboard. This operation is a difficult task requiring calculation accuracy. The dimensions of the floor plinth should correspond to the length of the desired area of \u200b\u200bthe wall. First of all, it is recommended to cut off large parts and when they are ready, small elements should be cut. When cutting off any workpiece, it is necessary to leave a supply of approximately 52-55 mm.
- It is important to consider which angle between the walls (as a rule, it is equal to 90 degrees). If the angle is straight, then the sections should be made at an angle of 45 degrees. Sometimes in an uneven room there is an angle of more than 90 degrees. Then it is necessary to conditionally divide the line into two parts by the distance between the walls that make up this angle. And along this line, make a cut. In no case can you cut the baseboard without preliminary measurement. When cutting, a knock is most often used, which is a tool that allows you to process parts at the right angle.
- The skirting board should be put so that the lower side is pressed against the wall. At the same time, the part, which, after installing the skirting board will touch the wall, should be located on the basis of this tool. After that, you should take a hacksaw and cut off the desired piece. As a guideline, there should be slots in the tool. The next panel is cut off so that the sawn ends of the planks are tightly interconnected at the right angle.
- In some cases, it is necessary to attach the baseboard to the arched walls. For such rooms, a curved skirting board is required, which is made by cutting at the desired angle of segments of a small length. At the same time, it is important to observe the correct segment sequence. This will create the illusion that the skirting board is integral.
- When the cut is finished, you should proceed to drill the holes necessary for attaching the skirting board to the wall. This work can be safely called the most responsible. Indeed, the result of the installation of the skirting board depend on how exactly in height is made in height. This can be performed using a drill with the function of a perforator and conductor. If the walls are even even, then the holes must be drilled at a distance of about 520-530 mm from each other.
- For fastening the strips, it is enough to use a dowel 30 mm long and a diameter of 6 mm. When the holes are made, it is necessary to remove the dirt that was formed during the work. This is easiest to do with a vacuum cleaner.
- How to install a floor skirting board? If the walls are made from a sheet of drywall, then there is a probability that the line along which the planks will be mounted will fall on the profile. Its height is usually 35-55 mm. In this case, the skirting board is recommended to be attached without dowels. It will be enough to screw the screws into the wall. To do this, you need to make the necessary holes in the profile with a drill on metal. It is important that their diameter is smaller (best a couple of millimeters) than the dimensions of the self -tapping screw used.
- During installation work, there is a possibility that the drill will flow or go away from the place where the hole is needed. To prevent this, it is recommended to use the conductor. To check the reliability of the mounting of the planks, you need to take an awl and pierce it with a drywall sheet at the level where the skirting board will be installed. If during this the awl rested on a metal surface, then this means that the dowel is not necessary.
- Most often, dowels are called the “butterflies” to install the planks. To do this, you need to make a hole in the wall of drywall, which will allow you to tightly plant fasteners in it. They are made without special difficulties using any drill. The protruding parts of the dowels must be pressed tightly to each other and inserted into the hole. After that, it is necessary to hit the “caps” several times with a hammer.
- Now you can start fastening the floor skirting board. The photo below shows how it looks like. The diameter screws must be selected so that they are slightly less than the dimensions of the hole. Moreover, the length of the fasteners should at least coincide with the length of the compressed dowel-bville.
How to fix the floor skirting board: some recommendations
Sometimes you can hear the recommendation according to which the holes of the desired diameter are made in the skirting board and the holes in the wall are already made on them. This technique has one significant drawback that it does not guarantee the accuracy of the installation of the skirting board. For this reason, cracks are possible. If it will be necessary to dismantle the skirting board during operation, then with such an installation it will be difficult to do this. In addition, the bar will remain behind the bar formed during the drilling.
Therefore, it is better to use another mounting method. So what is it? It is recommended to pierce the holes for self -tapping screws with a shil. As an alternative to Shil, you can use an old screwdriver, the tip of which must be pre -imprisoned. The edges of the tool during rotation make the walls of the hole denser. To make the hole in the right place, first you need to attach the bar to the wall to the place of the future installation. Then, along the channel line for the cable, the mark is applied, after which the skirting board is slightly pushed away from the wall so that the dowel is visible. After that, strictly along the fastener line, it is necessary to pierce the hole of the required diameter. Next, screw the self-tapping screw, which will fix the dowel-gvo. The result will be a skirting board securely fixed to the wall.
Now you need to start the installation of external corners, which are often in places where it is highly likely that someone will hook them. That is why it is important to treat such work with special responsibility. These corners should be attached at a distance of 21-22 mm from the corner of the room. If the profile is not used for some reason during the leveling of the strips, then it will be enough to put the mark at the place of fastening, and from it to measure the necessary distance using the construction line. If a wide floor skirting is used, then the sequence of work on its installation will be almost the same.
If you lay the corner profile with the holes made in advance, then when installing the planks, it will be necessary to pierce it and the tin of the profile by means of the awl, and then screw the screws. In order for the corner to hold on reliably, it is recommended to put a washer of a suitable size under the fasteners. To facilitate the spinning of the screw, it should be kept using a special tweezer with bent edges. The outer parts of the strips are fixed on the plasterboard wall in a similar way.
One of the last steps will be the installation of decorative plugs of the cable channel. To do this, the plug must be bent, after which it is to have its ends for fittings. Then it straightens and refuel into the channel where the cable will be laid.
Subtleties of installation of wooden skirting boards
The marking of this type of plinth is carried out in almost the same way as a plastic one. In the future, actions are slightly different. Consider what exactly. According to markings, it is necessary to screw self -tapping screws into the skirting board. This must be done until they appear on the back. After that, the skirting board should be tightly pressed against the wall so that the marks from the screws remain on it. Then the obtained marks must be indicated by a marker or pencil. Only after that you can make holes and insert dowels into them. Next, it remains to the stop to tighten the screws.
As for the screws, it is better to choose those that have a fairly large length and smaller diameter of the hat. The mounts in any case will be visible, so it is important to install them at the same distance from each other. In this form, they will look more harmonious.
As an alternative to self -tapping screws, finish nails are sometimes used. In this case, it is recommended to use the wooden dowels. They will be almost invisible in the places of fasteners. True, such fasteners have their own restrictions on use. It consists in the fact that in the walls of sheets of drywall or loose concrete, such dowels simply cannot stand normally.
