The materials from which the pads are made, their strengths and weaknesses

There are several main varieties of door pads for facing doors from the inside and outside:

• plastic door pads or MDF with plastic coating. Plastic is a durable and light material that does not require complex care and is not amenable to mechanical effects. The overlays from this material increase the stability of the door to wear and, along with this, are very practical;
• openced MDF door pads. The cladding of this material is strong, reliable, moisture resistant, safe for human health and for the environment, because It does not distinguish any harmful substances into the atmosphere. Thanks to these qualities of MDF, the overlays on metal doors have been in no abuse for many years;

• metal overlays on the door to the room are very simple. For their installation, a complex tool does not need at all. If the metal panels, if they do not protect the door from hacking, then it will definitely make this task as much as possible for criminals. They are rather protective pads on the door than decorative;
• laminate overlays. They are a cheaper analogue of MDF linings. In fact, they are a thin board consisting of several layers of chips and compressed paper;
• Layers from a solid wood massif. This material is the most expensive of all listed. It looks very impressive due to the possibility of combining it with mirror, glass or forged elements.

Plastic linings have the following positive properties:

• they are less than wooden are subject to various types of mechanical damage;
• a wide range of all kinds of colors allows you to combine them with various design solutions;
• plastic is not afraid of temperature changes, sunlight, moisture, adverse climatic conditions;
• practically not subject to combustion;
• resistant to household chemicals, even the one that contains abrasive elements;
• with all obvious advantages of plastic linings on the door, the price is relatively low;
• the plastic coating has high strength and therefore it can be used even in areas as children's institutions, public places, places of maintenance of pets, chemical laboratories and warehouses where various substances are stored.

Layers from this material can withstand the conditions under which their other types will simply be destroyed. At the same time, they do not have serious shortcomings.

Openced MDF lining with view and color imitate natural wood. Usually they are used, if desired, to update and decorate the front door and at the same time do not spend a lot of money. Positive qualities of MDF linings:

• made of environmentally friendly material;
• the appearance in beauty resembles natural wood, but in terms of functionality surpasses it;
• they are processed in such a way as to survive when exposed to damp and temperature jumps;
• the opportunity, thanks to a wide range of all kinds of shades and textures, show imagination when decorating a door;
• it is not a favorable environment for the propagation of microorganisms and mold.

But despite all the advantages, the material has a number of disadvantages:

• sensitive to mechanical damage, which makes an inappropriate cladding of the street door;
• may deteriorate under the influence of chemical and abrasive substances;
• sensitive to UV
• from time to time it needs painting;
• it may deteriorate when exposed to dampness.

From this material it makes sense to make overlays on the door, the entrance from the entrance to the dwelling, but not from the street to the porch.

Laminated overlays have such advantages as:

• wear resistance;
• good sound insulation;
• does not fade over time;
• easy to wash, does not require complicated care;
• it has a large palette of flowers.

This material also has disadvantages:

• it is not the most successful option for facing the front door due to the lack of the characteristics necessary for this;
• under the influence of dampness, it may swell and crack;

• it can only have a smooth surface without the possibility of applying a picture.

This type of door due to its simplicity and low cost is more suitable for installation in the office.

• external attractiveness and nobility;
• a wide variety of natural shades;
• stability of solid types to damage, sunlight, rawness;
• the possibility of processing antifungal impregnation;
• environmental friendliness.

The disadvantages include the following properties:

• the main function is to give a beautiful look;
• high price;
• it reacts to temperature jumps by the formation of cracks;
• requires periodic painting or varnish;
• it can fade under the rays of the sun.

The material of this type is intended for expensive houses and elite entertainment institutions. They rather emphasize the status of their owner than carry some kind of functional load.

How is the installation of linings on the door

Consider the process of installing door pads on the example of MDF. The following tools and materials are required to perform this task:

• mDF panels;
• degreasing;
• hammer;
• drill;
• screwdriver;
• self -tapping screws.

Before starting the installation, you need to think that with the overlays the door will become much thicker and this will lead to the inevitable replacement of locks and handles.

The process of installing linings consists of several stages:

• preparatory work. As a preparation for installation, it is necessary to clean and degrease the surface of the door on which the panels will be attached. It is also necessary to paint it or glue it with vinyl film. All these actions positively affect the hitch of the doors and linings;
• after that, you can start installing the pads on the door. To fix them using self -tapping screws, you need to drill holes around the entire perimeter of the canvas at a distance of about ten centimeters from each other.
• first of all, the overlay is installed from the inside, and then outside, while the caps of fasteners of the inner panel are hidden under the outer. If the door opens inside the room, then the pads must be fixed in the reverse order. To fix them as reliably as possible, you can use special glue in addition to self -tapping screws;
• at the last stage, locks should be installed. After completing the work, you can set the door to the opening.
