Types of accessories for interior doors
Two types of accessories are used to install the interior door:
- Loops. They are designed for moving fastening of the door leaf to the box. Depending on the weight of the door and the material from which it is made, the number and configuration of the loops may vary. As a rule, for fasteners of the so -called “Canadian” (a hollow canvas consisting of a wooden frame and two linings) use 2 sets of loops. For fastening heavier doors, 3 sets or more massive loops can be used.
- Handles-strokes. They are designed to block the closed door in one position. Handles can be equipped with locks that allow you to lock the door at the request of the owner. The pens are many configurations: rotary, pressure. A large number of different in functionality, design, quality and price of models allow you to choose the most optimal option for the door.
- Zapels. Basically serve in double doors, when one of the wings is extremely rare. In this case, using the upper and lower latch, they are fixed to the crossbar and threshold of the door box and remains motionless.
- Rollers. The videos are the main accessories for the shift doors. It is they, moving along the guides, that allow the door to open and close.
Choosing a door handle
The choice of a pen is the most crucial stage in the selection of accessories for the interior doors of Archie or other brand. A correctly selected pen will not only emphasize the beauty of the door, but also relieve problems with the jamming of locks and breakdown of the mechanism.
All pens can be conditionally divided into two main categories:
- Stationary pens. Such models are not equipped with any lock or mechanism. They are easily mounted, do not break, are cheap, very simple in installation. However, the disadvantage of such models is that they cannot fix the door.
- The pressure pens, or as they are also called - the phala are made in the form of a lever, pressing which a person drives the locking mechanism of the lock and opens the door. Such mechanisms can be equipped with a different level of mechanization. Some models are equipped only with a tongue, others with a crossbar, and others - the mechanism of blocking the tongue. Such models do not require the presence of a key and are locked using a rotary mechanism.
- Handles with latches and locks. These handles are equipped with locking mechanisms that are installed inside the door. They, in turn, are divided into two categories:
- Pressing.
- Turned.
Before making this or that choice, it is necessary to determine the purpose of the door, decide whether it should be locked and, if so, on which side.
The most popular at date are models equipped with latches that block the unlocking of the tongue. On one side, a handle is installed for locking the lock, and on the other, there is a small recess with a slot. It allows you to unlock the lock from the outside with any flat object - a screwdriver or a coin. Thanks to such a handle, you can easily close the door, for example, in the bedroom, without having the keys with you, and also if the children suddenly locked it, it is easy to open it with improvised means.
The convenience of pressing handles is that they are easy to open, even with your hands busy, you just have to click on it. However, this may be inconvenience, especially if there are small children in the house. They open such doors without problems, just “hanging” on the handle, which may not be quite convenient for parents. Often clothes are clinging to such handles.
Turning hands. In such models, unlocking the lock occurs when the conical or cylindrical handle is rotated. Like pressing models, they can have locking mechanisms, which for the most part block the rotation of the handle. Such models are convenient if the door is not often opened or closed, since it is quite problematic to do with them.
The choice of loops
The choice of loops depends on the type and, above all, the weight of the door. There are several main types of loops for installing interior doors.
- Inexperienced. Two halves of these loops are collected and pressed in the factory. As a rule, they are used for light frame doors. The fact is that in this case it will be possible to remove the door leaf in this case only when the loop from the box is surrounded, which in the case of the massive door will be problematic. Typically, such loops are included in the accessories of the compartment for interior doors, which comes along with the canvas and the box.
- Clear loops allow you to quickly remove the canvas without unwinding fittings. Such models will be ideal for heavy door leafs. They just serve them, for lubrication it is enough to lift the canvas a little and pour a little oil. For heavy doors, there are models of loops with the ability to adjust during operation without the need to remove the canvas.
- Recently, the so -called “entangled” loops have appeared on the market. However, they have not yet been very popular.
When choosing loops, it is necessary to pay attention to the fact that they are “left”, “right” and “universal”.
Installation of accessories on interior doors
This stage for many beginner masters is a certain complexity. When conducting such work, it is necessary not only knowledge of the technology, but also accuracy.
The loops and the patching bar of the door handle should be located on the surface of the canvas and the box “Washing”, that is, there is no gaps. The installed fittings in the level with the surface of the structural elements of the door are considered excellent work. However, in order to fulfill it impeccably, you need to try very hard.
Also, the size of the planting nest for the loop or lock should accurately correspond to their sizes and not have side gaps. Deviation is allowed only 0.5-1 mm.
Cutting seats for door fittings are carried out both by a special power tool - a milling mill, and manually using a chisel, a scalpel and a hammer.
Work order:
- The initial stage of inserting loops into the end surface of the door is the marking of the planting nest. To do this, they sang at a distance of 200-300 mm on top and below the door leaf are screwed with screws. At the same time, the distance between the hinges in all doors of the room should be the same.
- The loop contour is circled using a scalpel. However, a scalpel can make cuts well only along the wood fibers. In cutting the transverse part, it can cut only the upper layer of veneer up to 0.5 mm.
- To start working with a chisel, it is necessary to use it to deepen the circuit by about 2-3 mm. In this case, the upper layers of the fibers and plywood are cut to a depth of not more than 2-3 mm. Then the loop is removed. With the help of a chisel, wood is carefully sampled to the required depth.
- During the process, a loop for measuring the necessary depth is installed in the seat. When it sets the “Wanderer”, the sample is finished. It is necessary to work with a chisel carefully, easily tapping the end of the handle with a hammer. MDF doors are very difficult to carefully treat with manual cutting tools. For such models, it is more advisable to use a milling mill.
- After the planting nest under the loops is cut, they are installed in place. Next, it is necessary to try on the rowing door frame to the canvas to outline the position of the loops on it. For the convenience of the process, you only need to try on the rack, and not the whole box. If they were sold already in a collected form, it is better to disassemble it. The more convenient it will work, the better the result will be. Further, the process of inserting the loops is repeated similarly as on the end part of the canvas.
- After the end of work, it is necessary to install the pen. This stage is much more complicated, as it requires more attention. In addition to cutting the seat under the lock, it is necessary to properly drill holes under the handle and latch. To do this work is more advisable using a milling cutter, since the seat has a greater depth, and choosing it with a chisel is quite problematic.
- At the end, loops are mounted on the canvas, a handle with a lock and a box is assembled. An interior door with installed fittings is hung on the box and after that there is a place for landing the key lining, which will fix the tongue. To do this, some coloring substance (nail polish) is applied to it, the handle lowers, the door closes, and then the handle rises, freeing the tongue that stains the place of contact with the counter. A lining is installed on this place and a recess for the tongue is cut out.
