All owners of country houses and modern apartments with fireplaces sooner or later face the need for painting furnaces and metal elements (gratings, damper, fittings). The renewal of the coating is necessary not only to maintain aesthetics, but also for the convenience of using and extending the service life of the entire structure. In this article we will tell you which heat -resistant colors are suitable for processing furnaces and fireplaces.

The choice of paint
Even those who do not have their own stove in the house, roughly imagine what it consists of: a case of stone or brick, doors, shutters, frames, pens, etc. The entire structure is completely painted, even if it is made of the most high -quality stone or metal.
For staining furnaces, fireplaces and barbecue there is a special type of paint that can withstand extremely high temperatures. Depending on the structure and composition of the paint, its purpose also varies. So, some are suitable only for processing stone or bricks, while others can be safely used to stain the damper and gratings that have direct contact with fire.
The heat-resistant paint for the furnace should withstand at least 300-400 ° C, since the burning temperature of ordinary paper is +400C, wood +300C, and if you drown the furnace with coal, then at the stage of free combustion it can give a temperature already +900C (but this is on the surface itself Fuel, and to the partitions and internal walls of the furnace, it reaches much less heat). On most cans with heat -resistant paints, it is written that they can withstand +600C (sometimes up to +750C), which is quite suitable for a regular home furnace.
The easiest solution would be to go to a construction store and buy heat -resistant paint, designed specifically for the stove, but the price of such products often turns out to be too high. Such a specific product involves the appropriate narrow category of consumers, and marketers with confidence believe that if a person has enough funds for the maintenance of a stove or fireplace, then he is able to buy expensive heat -resistant paint. However, even the most prosperous owners are not alien to save, so you can use alternative means - many of the “ordinary” colors perfectly withstand high temperatures. So, you can paint the oven with oil paint or simple enamel, however, if there is an Olyphus, then the surface may darken over time. There are other refractory paints for furnaces on a synthetic basis, for example, nitro -painting experts even strongly advise using thermal appliances. Pentafle compositions are also suitable.
It is useful to know: the composition and percentage of specific inclusions determines the sphere of use of paint. By and large, this is a lacquer suspension with various additives, which form certain protective properties of paint. In most cases, heat -resistant compositions contain silicon or silicone.
Suppose you need to paint a furnace made of one material, but placed in different parts of the house, for example, one side is indoors, and part goes outside. In this case, you will have to work with two, or even three different compositions, since the paint used in the house will crack very quickly and gets down on the street, and for this you need to buy heat -resistant paint with increased anti -corrosion properties. At the same time, anti -corrosion compounds are for metal and concrete, since the properties of these materials are completely different, and the protection needs different. But there is a simpler option - universal colors that can be applied to any coatings. Banks usually indicate the consumption of the product when working with concrete, metal, stone and other materials (the most paint is required for processing concrete surfaces).
The principle of operation of heat -resistant colors
The price of heat -resistant paint is determined by its composition, which, in turn, affects heat resistance. Siliary solutions have recently become more popular. They are used not only to cover furnaces and fireplaces, but also to update heat -expenditure equipment and heating devices.
Useful advice: the properties of heat -resistant paint can be changed by adding certain components. For example, with the help of organic resin, you can increase the drying time of the composition, make it more elastic and improve adhesion.
Aluminum powder helps to increase heat -resistant characteristics - it withstands the temperature to +600C.
Fireproof paints not only improve the appearance of the structure, but also extend its operation. This is due to the fact that the paints evenly and smoothly distribute the high temperature along the entire surface processed by them, as a result of which the furnace does not overheat. This is especially true for metal welds that have the properties of melting from prolonged exposure to the heat. Paints retain the vapor permeability of the surface, protecting simultaneously from petroleum products and humidity, which are released during combustion.
Paint manufacturers
The Russian market is replete with heat -resistant stoves and fireplaces. In any construction store, you can find at least three options from different manufacturers - domestic and foreign. Consider the most popular of them.
NEW ton paint
The Ukrainian manufacturer is famous for its inexpensive, but quality products, and produces all kinds of compounds in aerosols. A heat -resistant metal paint from New Ton can withstand the temperature up to +600C. It includes anti -corrosion substances that protect the metal from overheating and rust. It is quite elastic, durable and not deformed from temperature drops.
Before painting, an aerosol enamel must prepare the surface - clean the metal with sandpaper and degreased with a solvent or alcohol. If it is possible to remove the metal part for painting, it is better to do it. If not, you should cover all nearby areas that are not subject to color, cardboard, film or newspapers.
It should not be primed before painting-you can immediately spray the enamel, holding the cap at a distance of 25-30 cm from the metal (if you bring it closer, the paint will flow). Before use, it is recommended to shake the cylinder for 1-2 minutes to stir the paint.
If you have painted the damper, and it has not yet managed to dry, it can already be put in place and make a stove - the enamel fully reveals its protective potential after the first displaying up to 200s for 20 minutes.
Duraheat 2.0 paint
Powerful refractory paint for processing metal surfaces. The one -component composition is able to withstand the temperature up to +1000C, for which I received this name. The mixture is based on modified silicone resin and special pigments that resist extremely high temperatures.
The heat -resistant paint 1000 reliably protects the metal surfaces, maintaining its color. It can be processed not only for stoves, fireplaces and barbecue, but also exhaust pipes of cars, boilers, mechanical parts, heating, heating boilers, weapons parts, etc.
It is distinguished by high elasticity and good adhesion even to glossy surfaces. With the thickness of the protective film in 30-50 microns, the consumption is from 10 to 12 square meters. m per 1 kg of paint. It dries at 20C for 60 minutes, but complete drying occurs with the first warming up to +200C for 1 hour.
The paint of the term
Heat -resistant enamel from the manufacturer of special forces. The K-8111 term is able to withstand the temperature up to +600C and can be used to process metal and other surfaces.
Universal paint is available in a multi -color palette, so there is an opportunity to choose an option in tone with the interior of the room. It is mainly used for anti-corrosion processing of steam pipelines, oil and gas pipelines, exhaust and smoke pipes, engine parts and other mechanisms. It protects not only from overheating, but also from aggressive chemical exposure to oils, hydrochloric solutions, wandering currents, chlorine, etc.
The paint of the ceremet
The heat -resistant Certa paint is designed for refractory and anti -corrosion protection of metal surfaces and parts from other materials. Like the previous agent, it protects the metal from overheating, exposure to chemicals (oil products, salt solutions, mineral oils).
The cereal can withstand not only the high temperature up to +900C, but also the frost up to -60C. She can process engines and exhaust pipes, chimneys, asbestos -cement pipes, concrete and reinforced concrete. The paint reliably protects against heat and atmospheric precipitation, while maintaining vapor permeability. Available in aerosol cylinders of 520 ml.
Tikkurila paint
The world -famous Finnish manufacturer of paints and building mixtures offers two options for heat -resistant paint - silver and black. Silver paint is made on the basis of aluminum powder and is able to withstand temperatures up to +900C. Designed to protect metal surfaces of furnaces, fireplaces, barbecue and furniture from heat and atmospheric precipitation. You can use both indoors and outside. The manufacturer claims that the paint can withstand extremely high temperatures up to red iron.
Black heat -resistant Tikkuril paint is designed to process surfaces that heat up to a maximum of +400 ° C. It can also be used both inside and outside the rooms. You can apply the thermal painting with a brush or using a spray gun.
Elcon paint
The heat -resistant ElCon paint is an anti -corrosion enamel that can withstand heating to +800C and cold to -60C. After drying, it does not secrete harmful chemicals, so it can be used indoors. This is one of the most common options for stoves, fireplaces, barbecue, pipes and chimneys.
It can be used as heat -resistant paint for brick, concrete, asbestos cement, metal and other surfaces.
The uniqueness of the paint is that it can be applied even at negative temperatures and in the zone of exposure to the electrostatic field. The manufacturer gives a guarantee of 15 years.
How to paint the stove
To prevent the furnace from repainting in a year or two, it is necessary to carefully prepare the surface and buy “correct” compounds. Make sure that purchased paint is intended for internal work if you paint a fireplace or stove in the house, and for external ones - for parts of the structure outside the house.
Painting consists of several stages:
- Clean the surfaces that you will paint from the old paintwork, litter and dust. Metal parts must be degreased with alcohol or acetone, having previously polished with sandpaper. If you are going to paint the hob, pay special attention to it and prepare every centimeter.
- If fat spots are found on the surface, they can be removed with a hot soda solution - extinguish soda with boiling water, moisten a rag and attach to the spot for a couple of minutes.
- Dry the surface.
- Remove the old primer, if any - for thermal painting, a primer is not needed.
- You can paint the furnace at any temperature, but it is still better to first focus it, since the final drying of the composition occurs at a temperature of at least 150C.
- Apply paint to the surface in any suitable way (roller, flat brush or spraying).
- After drying the first layer of paint, apply the second. Heat-resistant paints should be applied to 2-3 layers (we remind you that in order to completely dry the paint, it is necessary to heat the surface to 150C).
- Immediately after painting, melt the furnace or fireplace as much as possible to fix the composition.
Subject to all of the above instructions, the protective coating will last at least 10 years.
Alternative: vanity
It is possible to create a refractory protection for a metal stove or shifts not only with paint. Previously, no one knew about any heat -resistant compositions, and the shutters and gratings of the furnaces were treated through chemical oxidation, or simply vilingual. As a result, the metal surface became matte-black and did not rust.
There are several methods of enveloping, we will talk about the simplest of them:
- Peel the metal surface with sandpaper of different calibers (from larger - to smaller).
- Treat the part with a solution of sulfuric acid 5%to remove the oxides.
- Remove the remaining acids using a solution of laundry soap. To do this, grate 50 g of soap and dilute in warm water (the alkali will quickly remove acid).
- Baking is carried out using causticat. Make a solution of 50g per 1 liter and heat it to 140C.
- Apply caustic soda to the part by spraying. It is strictly forbidden to use brushes for this!
Finally, a couple of folk recipes, or life hacks, as they are now called. These tips will help you avoid buying expensive furnace thermal stoves. So, in order to process a stove or fireplace on the street made of stone or brick, use gas -wiring glue - apply it with a brush, like ordinary paint. If you need to process the metal, cover it with silver on liquid glass. And if you go on vacation or do not use the stove for a long time (for example, in the summer), then treat all the metal parts with a rag dipped in lean oil.
