Types of LED products
High demand for LED products pushes manufacturers to constant improvement of old and release new models. Today, LED products are produced in the form:

Varieties of LED strips
The LED tape is a flexible fee on which resistors and LEDs are located through certain intervals. The LED tape 5 m long is supplied to the coils in order to avoid damage to it during the transportation period, since the tape width varies within 8-10 mm, and the maximum thickness does not exceed 3 mm.
The tapes are powered from a voltage of 12 V, therefore, to connect them, a transformer that converts 220 V in the required 12 to voltage is required.
The power of the LED tape, along with the brightness of the glow, largely depends on the number of LEDs located per 1 m, the density of which can be 30, 60, 120 and less often 240.
Based on the shade of the glow, the LED ribbons are divided into:
- LED - characterized by monotony of glow. Such tapes are connected to the transformer in parallel. In addition, monochrome tapes do not require the use of the controller;
- rGB LED ribbons are equipped with diodes that radiate the light of various shades. At the same time, the installation of tapes is carried out only in the presence of a controller, through which the color of the strip and brightness of the glow not only change, but also synchronous inclusion/disconnection of the LEDs is carried out. In addition, for every 5 m RGB, it is necessary to install the signal amplifier, especially if the power of the tape exceeds the controller power. The connection of several RGB ribbons is carried out in parallel to the other.
Despite the fact that the creation of lighting using RGB ribbons is made only using the controller, their cost will be no higher than the price of ordinary LED tape, especially if you take into account the acquisition of several monochrome tapes necessary to obtain the effect similar to the use of one RGB tape.
Advantages/disadvantages of LED strips
Relatively recently, ceilings equipped with spotlights were considered the limit of perfection. Currently, the LED lighting of the ceiling is based on the use of lamps and LED strips with unique operational and decorative characteristics.
Advantages:
- the ability to place on a ceiling skirting board, in the cornice area or in a small niche due to compact dimensions;
- the absence of mercury does not require special disposal of waste products;
- high efficiency is due to low energy consumption;
- ease of perception of illumination due to the lack of flicker and the effect of blinding;
- the presence of a controller allows you to use instant inclusion/off;
- high resistance to voltage and temperature changes;
- low degree of ultraviolet and infrared radiation;
- the uniformity of the distribution of the light flow inside the room;
- high level of light output;
- ease of installation associated with the presence of a self -adhesive basis;
- duration of operation.
Along with a lot of advantages, LED ribbons have one significant minus - a fairly high cost. However, the durability and aesthetic attractiveness of any backlight, made using various types of LED tapes, costs such investments.
Types of ceiling lighting
Modern lighting of the ceiling is divided into the following types:
- general purpose - implemented using spotlights or suspended devices;
- target - used to zoning the space of the room for certain segments by directed lighting using spot lighting devices;
- designer - is carried out by LED ribbons and provides the comfort of staying in the room due to the dispersing light output of the diodes.
For decorative design of the ceiling, directed or contour backlight is used. In this case, the complexity of installation work on lighting the ceiling with the LED ribbon depends on the type of backlight and the design of suspended or stretch ceilings.

Before starting to fix the tape, you need:
- Check the compliance of the power of the transformer length of the tape. To do this, the length of the tape necessary for illuminating a certain area of \u200b\u200bthe ceiling is multiplied by the power consumed by 1 m tape, which is indicated on the packaging. We increase the resulting value by 20%, creating a power supply. If the power supply indicates a significantly lower power than the calculated one, then it must be immediately replaced with a more powerful one. When installing a tape 15-20 m long, it is advisable instead of one power supply unit and, accordingly, significant dimensions use 2 small for each tape.
- Choose a controller. If the controller power is less than the power of the LED tape, then you will have to purchase a signal amplifier at the rate of 1 amplifier per 5 m of the tape.
- Prepare the tape. If the base intended for gluing the tape is more than 5, 10, 15 m, etc., then you need to cut off the missing piece in a place specially designated by the manufacturer. Singing individual pieces of tape in one is better on the floor, because it is not very convenient to deal with such a thing at the top. Imagine the rations with a heat -shrink tape. To improve contact between the transformer and wires, it is necessary to close the ends of the wires with special contact tips.
Basic principles of installation of LED tape
The tape is mounted by means of an adhesive base on an aluminum or plastic profile, previously fixed using self -tapping screws at the base. As a rule, the width of this profile is about 3 cm. However, the profile is used mainly with hidden installation of the backlight. At the same time, there are a lot of options for installing lighting ceilings using LED tape.
The tape can be fixed:
- to the black ceiling. Manipulations are carried out after placing all guides and profiles designed to tension the PVC of the canvas. In this case, the distance from the base to the stretch ceiling should be about 10 cm;
- to the wall between the draft and the stretch ceiling;
- to the profile fixed between levels, if you plan to two -level system. Fixation of the tape in this case is carried out before the deposit and tension of the PVC of the canvas.
However, when LED lighting of the stretch ceiling, it is worth considering the directions of light radiation so that the draft ceiling and other ceiling structures do not spoil the aesthetics of the completed appearance.
The LED tape can also be mounted with a finished stretch ceiling. To do this, the polyurethane cornice or ceiling baseboard is attached to the wall so that the distance from the ceiling to the cornice is 2-3 cm. At the same time, the width of the plinth should correspond to the dimensions of the transformer and controller.
Similarly, the LED tape can be placed behind the baseboard.
In addition, when laying the tape on the skirting board or cornice, it is worth considering that the tape and other lighting elements are not reflected on the glossy surface of the PVC of the ceiling.
The considered options for mounting the tape in relation to the stretch ceiling are also suitable for the installation of lighting of the suspended ceiling made of drywall. The only exception is an option that implies the fastening of the tape to the black ceiling, since drywall is not able to skip light.
After the tape is completely glued, it is necessary to connect it to the power supply and the controller, while observing the correct connection of the wires.
