Interior doors are a very important interior detail, which, with the right selection, can give a special charm to the room. The preference for glazed doors has recently been given not only because of attractive design, but also from purely practical motives. Due to the presence of glass that passes the light, such doors can be installed on the chamber of illuminated and unlit rooms, for example, in the aisle between the hallway and a room with a window. In this case, you do not have to illuminate both rooms, since the light will break through the glass. True, it is worth noting that not all rooms are advisable to install models of interior doors with glazing. So, for example, in the bedroom to create a resting rest, it is better to install a dull canvas so that the light from the adjacent room does not break through and does not interfere with the sleeping room. The main element of glazed interior doors, which generally determines their appearance, is glass. It is about him that we will talk further.

Types of glasses for interior doors
Called glass
This type of glass has an uneven surface, due to which, although it passes a large amount of light, creates a barrier of visibility of what is happening in the room. Another strong side of the corrugated glass is its low sound permeability, which allows you to reduce the noise level distributed around the apartment or house. A similar type of material is made in various color solutions, which allows the door to organically fit into the overall color design of the room.
Glass with spraying
Quite often an option due to its relatively low cost. Thanks to the application of special spraying to the surface of ordinary glass, masters can draw almost any drawing, creating real compositions. Glass interior doors from matte glass can be installed in bathrooms and in the kitchen.
Triplex glass
This type of glass appeared on the market relatively recently, but in a short time received a large number of flattering reviews both from the builders and from end consumers.
Glass triplex for interior doors is a kind of “sandwich” of two or more sheets of glass, between which the layers of reinforced material are installed. Due to this, this material has a fairly high strength, which allows you to use it even as a flooring or for the installation of stairwells. This option will be relevant for installation in the door leading to the children's room. This material will not be within the power of even an adult.
From triplex glass, frameless doors are often produced. They are installed in retail outlets and office premises. Possessing excellent sound insulation, such a door can create an atmosphere of absolute silence, while not limiting the room in the natural light. Hare doors are very often used to organize an office room in the style of “Open Space” in many leading world companies.
Polycarbonate glass
Such material is an excellent option if you need to make the door strong. Unlike ordinary or corrugated glass, polycarbonate, in fact, is a transparent plastic that practically does not beat. The only drawback of this material is that its surface is very subject to scratching. Also, over time, polycarbonate may turn yellow by losing its transparency. To give an orgsteg an interesting species, it is covered with a decorative film. It can also serve as additional protection against scratches.
DIY glass replacement in the interior door
Glass, whatever it may be, can still deteriorate or break. Therefore, you must always be able to replace it at the right time. Of course, you can simply call a carpenter so that the latter will do this operation, but you will have to pay much more for such work than to spend time on it. Therefore, this can be done with your own hands.
So, before replacing, inspect your door and find out how the glass is fixed. There may be two of them:
- The fastening of the quarter, which is often called the glazing.
- Installation of glass inside the door leaf.
If the canvas is collected in the first way (usually this was done earlier), then replacing glass in the interior door will not be difficult.
Installation procedure:
- First of all, it is necessary to remove the staff. This must be done extremely neatly so as not to break it. To do this, we take a wide screwdriver with a sharp tip, and carefully drive it into the gap between the canvas and the glazing tapica closer to the extreme nail. If there is no screwdriver, a knife with a thick blade is suitable.
- Gently turn the screwdriver so that the glazing is lagging behind the canvas. Next, we do a similar operation with other nails. When the staffing is completely lagging behind the canvas, we take it out with the help of pliers.
- When dismantling quarters, you need to remember the sequence of work. The first quarters are the first to remove, then the lower, and in the last turn - the upper ones. Subject to this sequence, the risk of glass dumping from the door will be minimal. Otherwise, you risk breaking the glass. If it was damaged earlier, then the procedure for removing graduates does not matter.
- Then take measurements. It must be remembered that the size of the glass should be 3-4 mm less than the seat on each side. Do not try to put the glass back. In this case, when swelling of the door from moisture, they can simply burst.
- The next step, place an order in a glass workshop. Do not try to cut the glass yourself. It will be problematic to do this at home with an ordinary glass cutter. With careless handling, a glass sheet can simply burst, so it is better to contact professionals. By choosing the necessary type, just give them the size and take the order in a few minutes.
- The glass must be transported extremely neatly. If the sheet is large, and its thickness, on the contrary, is small, then it can “play” under the pressure of the wind and burst. Be sure to wrap the sheet with dense matter and fasten well. Remember the safety, all work with glass is carried out only in special gloves.
- If you ordered ordinary glass without a pattern, it can be ennobled using a tinting or decorative film. By the way, she will make him much stronger. Film gluing work is carried out on unidentified glass. In simple words - we glue first, then put it.
- The process of gluing the film is extremely simple. We moisten the surface of the glass with a light soap solution and gradually glue the film. Before starting work, make sure that the surface has no pollution, dust particles or fat spots. If they are available, be sure to clean the surface, otherwise the film will lie poorly. In order to “drive out” air bubbles from under the material, use a plastic spatula. After the glass dries a little, cut the excess film in the ends, and you can install it.
- Having set the glass in place, secure it with stacks in the reverse order.
A completely different thing if the glass is installed inside the door. Then the repair of the glasses of interior doors is somewhat complicated. Consider the procedure for installation work in this case:
- Usually, all new wooden canvases are made in such a way that the glass in them is installed on top. In this case, the door will have to be disassembled. First of all, remove the canvas from the loops. Remember, the loops are unscrewed from the box, and not from the canvas, in this case it will be easier for you to put it in place.
- After the door is removed, find special plugs in its ends. Self -tapping screws that attach the protective cover should be hidden under them. Having found self -tapping screws, carefully unscrew them and remove the lid.
- After that, you can get to the glass. Gently remove it and put it in a protected place so that it does not break. Remember safety when working with glass.
- Then we take a pre -prepared sheet and insert it into the groove. Performing this work, be careful not to spoil the seals. These elements are responsible for ensuring that the glass does not rattle when closing or opening the door. So that they do not deteriorate, grease the edges of the glass with a soap solution, then it will simply slip down, and after drying it will be reliably held.
- After installing the glass, put the lid in place, screw the screws and close them with plugs.
- Set the door in place. To do this, take the wedge and substitute it down the canvases. When correcting it, you can put the upper veil to the seat. Get it with one screw. Then, holding the canvas, set the lower veil and grab it. After that, tighten the rest of the screws. To do it faster, use a screwdriver.
Installation of backlighting interior doors with glass
Recently, a rather popular way to make interior doors original is the installation of glass backlight. For this, an ordinary LED tape is used, which can be bought in any store. Install it only on one side. The easiest way in the lan of connection is to do this on the side. To do this, two power wires are soldered to it. A through hole is drilled from the side of the canvas, through which the wires are excreted.
Remember that the tape is designed for a voltage of 12 volts, so you will need a 220/12 V. transformer. It is possible to hide it behind the door box, you can also imperceptibly place the switch. Connect the entire circuit and check the correctness of its operation. After that, carefully install the glass and press with stacks.
