Adjustment of plastic doors

Most of the population in apartments or houses have plastic windows and doors. Over time, during operation, almost every owner of the plastic door arises the question of how to adjust the mechanism of the balcony door.

Of course, you can call specialists who will quickly eliminate the problem and adjust the mechanism, but there is not always such an opportunity - to come to the call right away. Most often you have to wait a few days. Therefore, it is advisable to independently master these skills and, if necessary, having a minimum set of tools, adjust the loops of plastic doors with your own hands.

About the plastic door

When work is carried out on the installation of a new door from plastic, the specialists should immediately perform adjustment work on the spot. For some time, the door work will not cause complaints, but over time, given that the door is heavy, it can “sit down” a little and will close badly.

Despite all the issues taken into account when buying a door, its excellent quality and a proven company that will install the door, it is advisable to be present during the adjustment work and make sure that you really were given such a service.

After adjusting the loops of the plastic door is completed, you must pay attention to the following:

1. The door frame should be tightly pressed to the box around the perimeter.
2. Check the door with the door: the door should open and close easily. If it opens or closes with an effort, a creak, then this means that the adjustment is not fulfilled to the end.
3. To check the verticality of the door, you need to use the construction level.
4. Open the door, but not completely, but to half, and look, it will open (close) it arbitrarily or not. This testing must be carried out subject to the complete absence of wind and draft. If the door is adjusted according to the rules, then it should remain immovable.

How to determine the density of the door of the door

This knowledge will help not only to check the work of specialists, but also to determine possible deviations in the work of the mechanism.

If the door closes tightly, or by going up to it, you feel a strong flow of air, this indicates that it is time to carry out the adjustment.

To check whether the door to the box is pressed well, you need to perform such a test:

1. Take a sheet of paper (do not fold!).
2. Put a sheet between the door frame and the box.
3. Close the door tightly.
4. Pull the edge of the sheet on yourself, pull it out, paying attention to the effort of the paper.
5. Perform the action around the perimeter of the door.

If in several areas the paper is easily removed, then the door is in order. If you make efforts somewhere, then this means that the adjacent density is broken.

The sagging of the door can be seen as follows: take an ordinary pencil and outline the open sash around the entire perimeter. The lines should be located parallel to the edge of the door box, if a deviation occurs, adjustment is necessary.

Identification of other problems

One of the common problems of the entrance plastic door is:

• the lower shutter (part of it) clings the edge of the door frame (part of the threshold). This indicates the sagging of the sash, which bends under its own weight. This is due to the fact that a double -glazed window takes a large mass of the door leaf, and if a double glass packet with a glass thickness is installed more than 4 millimeters, then the loops will weaken under weight over time, and the door sash will begin to shift;

• the sash clings to the frame in the middle. The reason is the displacement of the side of the sash due to weather conditions (temperature changes) or other factors. In most cases, this displacement is eliminated by adjusting the hinges of the input plastic doors;
• the sash is pressed to the frame not tightly, and an air flow passes from under the seal. It is necessary to adjust the press clamp;
• stagging pen.

Door adjustment

Before starting work, and adjust the loops of the plastic door, you need to purchase the following tools:

• screwdriver: ordinary, flat and cross;
• hexagonal keys of different diameters;
• a set of gaskets.

Adjust the sagging of the door.To remove this malfunction, you need to direct the door leaf and shift it a little to the loop above. This is done as follows:

1. It is necessary to open the sash with the rotation of the handle (but not for ventilation!). Using a hexagonal key (4 millimeters adjusting), turn the screw in the end part of the sash near the upper loop.
2. To pull the sash, you need to perform one or two turns clockwise.
3. Close the sash.

4. Remove a protective cap located below. This is necessary in order to adjust the upper screw.
5. Take the screw at the upper end of the loop, slightly lifting the sash. You need to twist it clockwise.
6. Check if the door is “walking” freely. If tight, to do the loops again.

Attention! The accessories of plastic doors can be made for hexagonal keys or under special, in the form of a "star". This nuance must be taken into account when working and if possible to purchase such a key in advance.

Adjustment of collapse in the middle part. If the sash clings the frame in the middle of the door, then it is necessary to shift it to the hinges. First you need to “take” the sash down to the loop, insert the key into the screw located on the side and pull the sash.

If the actions done do not eliminate the problem, then it is necessary to adjust the upper loop of the plastic door again. This will be enough to eliminate the catchy frame.

How to adjust the clamp. The force of pressing the door to the frame is performed using locking elements. They are located inside the sash and have an eccentric shape. Tractors must be adjusted using a special key and pliers.

It is enough to adjust the door adjustment in winter and summer. Moreover, for the winter period it is necessary to install a strong pressure, and on the summer - weaker. To press the sash to the frame from the side of the loops with adjusting screws of the upper and lower loops of the door.

Horizontal loops adjustment

Loops for plastic doors are adjusted both horizontally and vertically. Consider the horizontal adjustment:

1. It is necessary to open the door and unscrew from the upper loops (two of them) screws. Unscrew the screws with a hexagonal screwdriver (3 millimeters).
2. Then close the door and remove the pads - under them are adjusting screws.
3. In order to avoid skewing the door, a long screw is twisted in the upper loop a little stronger than in the lower.
4. To ensure a uniform shift of the door to the hinges or in the opposite direction, you need to remove the overlay from the loop located from the bottom, pull it up and slightly weaken all the horizontal screws available in the loops of the door.

Vertical adjustment of the loops

Vertical adjustment is performed when it is necessary to raise the door or lower it. To figure out how to adjust the plastic door vertically, you need to find a screw for adjustment from below at the end of the loop. It is located along the axis of the loop. By the way, some models of plastic doors, including input, are equipped with a closed screw system. Such a screw can be hidden under the plug, which must be previously removed.

In order to adjust the door, you need to use a hexagonal screwdriver by 5 millimeters. By rotating the screwdriver clockwise, the door must be raised a little, and when the rotation of the screwdriver goes counterclockwise, lower the door.
