Polenitsa is an ideal option for storing and drying firewood in your own suburban area. Of course, firewood can be stored in a special building or in the corner of the barn, but why not build a woodpile with your own hands, especially when to make it easier?

Why do you need a logs?
Polenitsa is not only a great place for the preservation of firewood, but also an addition to landscape design. Today there are many options for creative design of this building, and if you attach a drop of fantasy to work, you can successfully “revive” the site.
Tips for the location of the logs:
- it is best to build a logs in the backyard not far from the garden path, so that you can easily get to it and take firewood;
- a low log can be a great barbecue table;
- in the winter season, the logs will act as a snow barrier, so it will be much easier to clean the garden path near it.
How to store firewood
Storage of firewood depends on the design where you will store them. The most difficult option is the construction of a house of logs, which is both a log and a convenient place for storing tools.
Some owners of suburban areas prefer to store firewood, folding them in the backyard in the form of a large heap, while others collect a tree inside the house. But not everyone has the opportunity to take part of the space for firewood, so it is better to build a logs and not puzzle.
There is a special rule for storing firewood, stating that they should be connected in dense packs, laid in rows or knitting, but necessarily dry. Thick and long logs are recommended to be divided in half or into 4 parts. Do not make a logger near the playground or parking for fire safety reasons.
Storage methods:
- knock - a bundle of logs can be placed near the yard building, lean against the wall of the house or to the fence. Be sure to prepare the base so that the firewood is dry. To do this, stones or bricks are laid out on the ground with an even layer or stakes, and wooden logs are laid out on them;
- a fork is a popular way in the northern regions of Russia. Birch branchy branches are laid on the rows of logs, grasp the pegs with with fork and press the branches on top. You can build up such a bundle to the very top of the logs or barn. On top, firewood is covered with roofing roofing, tin sheets or any other waterproof material;
- stacks - the logs are laid with the ends, tilting them a little to the side. This is the most compact storage method and is suitable for those who do not have a large space. It is better to lay firewood with tablets, leaning them against some kind of construction, because such a design itself is very shaky and can collapse from a strong wind;
- “Babel” - firewood laid down by the “cell” are more stable. So, the logs are laid out with stacks of 4 logs in a row and strengthened with sections, alternating the horizontal and vertical direction. This design can be located anywhere and without support;
- kopla - firewood, laid tightly to each other in a circle. The denser the firewood is, the more reliable the design will be. The only drawback is that this method occupies quite a lot of space.
It is very important to immediately determine the dimensions of the future logs by calculating the optimal number of rows. As practice shows, three rows are enough for normal drying of firewood. If there are more, ventilation will be worse. Remember that as firewood dries, their volume decreases, and subsidence occurs. So, a three -meter birch bake of firewood will settle approximately 20 cm, so it is important to trim the logs as tightly as possible.
Building with do -it -yourself woodeners
Ordinary logs
Each owner of a country house will be able to add an ordinary small log. The creation of the frame can be entrusted even to teenage children-it is so elementary!
Necessary tools and materials:
- marteau;
- clamp;
- tournevis;
- circular saw;
- ruleta;
- vijaki za samopotop;
- board 3x15 cm 3 m long - 2 pcs;
- board 3x15 cm 1.5 m long - 4 pcs;
- board 3x15 cm long 1 meter - 1 pc.
Potek dela:
- Choose the most convenient place for the location of the future logs. It is best to install it on a prepared concrete base, but if there is no one, you can lay out an impromptu foundation made of stone or brick. This site is necessary to prevent rotting and soaking wood.
- Fold the frame of the logs, first, having cut a board 1 meter with a length of 4 identical segments with a length of 25 cm long. These segments will be crosswriters for the future log. If you store firewood shorter than 25 cm, then it is better to immediately shorten these boards, since they should be several centimeters less than firewood.
- Process the boards for the frame and collect the design, as shown in the video tutorial below.
- Put the firewood in the logs.
Round log
The creation of a round log will take a little more time and effort, but such a structure will look much more interesting. We offer to consider the easiest way to fold a round log.
Necessary tools and materials:
- polyethylene film;
- rope;
- marker;
- clous;
- roulette.
Do not think that the construction of such a log is easier, because it does not have a frame.
Potek dela:
- Prepare the foundation of the logs - remove excess garbage from the ground and align the surface. Put on the ground a plastic film to protect firewood from decay and dampness.
- Since the logs will be round in shape, subsequently the corners of the film will need to be cut, but you can do it at once - drive a nail exactly in the center of the film and attach the end of the twine to it. At the second end, tie the marker, pull the rope and draw a circle of the required diameter.
- Place the firewood in a circle (extreme end of the film) evenly and as tightly as possible). Do not go beyond the film so as not to spoil the wood. It is better to even leave the allowance of a couple of centimeters. It is important to lay out firewood as smooth as possible, otherwise the design will turn out to be a curve and unstable.
- When the first row is completed, proceed to the layout of the second, third, and so on, until the height of your logs reaches one and a half meters. Then fill the void inside the formed ring. Everything is simpler with this - put firewood tightly and, if possible evenly.
- Continue to lay out the external rings of the logs until you reach the height you need. It is better that it is not very large. If the logs are about 1.5 meters in height, then for its stability alternate the layout of firewood outside and inside.
- The roof for a round log is made of the same firewood. For convenience, you can make the inner ring slightly higher than the external and with the bends to lay out the roof, like tiles.
