The finish of the foundation in a private house is a fairly labor process, since this part of the building is in the immediate vicinity of the Earth's level. Due to this, it is necessary to pay attention not only to the technology of applying the coating, but also by the quality of the materials. Among modern types of facing flooring, basement siding is in greatest demand. This variety of material has a favorable ratio of cost, technical characteristics and durability in operation.

Types of facing material for the foundation
To arrange the outside of the foundation base, various types of materials can be used. Among the most common are the following types of coatings:
- Plaster is the most common option for finishing the basement, which is characterized by low price and poor operational qualities.
- Artificial or natural stone is a rather aesthetic, strong and durable material that has a high cost.
- Decorative panels are an expensive type of coating with high aesthetic value and wear resistance.
- Brick - the material is durable, but requires a troublesome attitude in the cladding process.
- Tile tiles are a relatively inexpensive type of material, but it is not too durable and requires a laborious cladding process.
- Siding is an affordable, resistant coating that has a wide variability of colors and textures.
Advantages of cladding siding
The finish of the foundation with a basement siding is the most optimal option for facing the house. This material is vinyl panels, the texture and drawing of which simultaneously imitate natural stone or brick. Such a coating is completely not sensitive to the negative effects of ultraviolet rays and moisture, and can also withstand temperatures from -50 ° C to +50 ° C. Let us consider in detail the advantages of cladding of the basement with siding:
- this type of coating has a small weight, due to which it does not create an additional load on the bearing wall of the building;
- due to the fact that the composition of the material includes special additives, siding is very plastic and can withstand several expansion and compression cycles under the influence of temperatures;
- such a coating protects the base from moisture, and is also quickly and easily mounted on the base;
- siding is resistant to mechanical and physical impact;
- the coating has a long service life - about 50 years, while the panels do not require additional protection in the form of applying paints and varnishes;
- the finish of the foundation for siding allows to ensure the correct ventilation of the basement;
- the material has low thermal conductivity, due to which heat is reliably held inside the building;
- the variability of textures and textured solutions allows you to design the facade of the building on an individual and original project.
Features of the processing process with siding
This type of material is universal because it is suitable for installation work on any surface. Modern manufacturers offer a wide variety of basement siding, which can simulate both natural stone and brickwork, slate, shipbring. At the same time, the coating is very practical to care and for its cladding will not need to have special knowledge or skills.
However, the finish of the foundation with siding with your own hands, like any other facing process, has some features. Consider them in more detail:
- Panels of such material can be mounted exclusively on the vertical plane of the facade. For this reason, it is not recommended to clarify the upper horizontal surface of the wall with siding.
- The foundation should be finished in a clear sequence: laying the panels is performed from the left corner of the building to the right, starting from the installation of the starting bar.
- To provide the premises with additional isolation, it is advisable to use non -foil materials for facing the basement, but “breathing”. They need to be laid under siding panels.
- Mandatory should be taken into account possible changes in the geometric surface parameters that occur due to temperature differences in summer/winter time. To do this, it is necessary to provide a small gap at the joints between the panels themselves, as well as the additional elements of the coating.
- It is forbidden to install siding on an unprepared surface. You can fix the panels exclusively on the crate or plywood shields with which the base is sheathed.
- The mounts that serve to hold the coating on the surface must be deepened by at least 10-13 mm. In this case, the fasteners should be installed in the very center of the specially provided opening.
- Do not screw the fasteners to the stop, it is better to leave a small gap-about 1.5-2.2 mm.
Important! In order to calculate the required number of siding panels for lining the basement of your house, you must follow this principle: the footage of each wall should be divided into the length of one facing panel, and then make the received data. As for the height of the foundation level, one siding fragment is enough here. If the base is overestimated, you will need to multiply the result obtained in the first calculation by 1.5.
Phased installation of the material
Before starting the finish of the foundation at home with siding, the wall surface should be carefully prepared. As noted earlier, the primary task is to install the crate. So, the process of forming the frame is as follows:
- Initially, the fastener base on which the panels will be held on the basement should be fixed on the base. It can be made of wood or galvanized metal profile. The second option is more reliable and durable.
- Attach sequenile movements to the frame of the profile strip so that they are located in a horizontal position. For verification, use the building level.
- If you intend to use the panels in a row in height for lining the basement level, then you will need fragments with a width of 45-47 cm. At the same time, the frame of the crate from metal profile must be built from three lines-under the upper edge of the siding panel, in the middle and near the base of the base.
- The fixation of the planks occurs by means of self-tapping screws and dowels, the length of which should be at least 8-10 cm.
- After that, it is necessary to install the additional elements (starting and finish strips, stripes, etc.), as well as directly siding.
- It is necessary to fix the starting strip of facing coating on the crate so that it is located strictly horizontally. For fixation, self -tapping screws are used, and the distance between the mounts should be about 30 cm.
- When the cladding reaches the angle of the building, it is necessary to fix the angular element that is mounted to the crate with a similar method. The allowance to the corner strip should be at least 1 cm.
- At the end of the process of sheathing, the finish bar should be fixed, which looks like a decorative fragment of siding.
- After that, you can start facing the entire basement. The first coating panel is inserted into the grooves of the original strip and pushed into the corner element so that a small gap remains.
- Then the second panel is installed. To do this, you should start a support bar and move it close to the first sideline fragment. Everything is fixed by analogy with the previous way.
- According to the same principle, the entire base is lining.
Important! If necessary, the last element of the facing coating can be slightly shortened, and then attached to the crate. Only after this is the installation of the finish corner bar.
