Characteristics of wall lamps
Of all the models of wall lamps, the most common are plaphipers and sconces. In addition, you can also install conductive systems and devices that are built into the surface of the wall.
Plafs: photo
Plafs are a type of lamps that are attached to the back to the wall without the ability to adjust the light flow. Their main advantage is compactness. Indeed, such lighting devices can easily be hung even in the closest coal of the room. The installed posters allow you to get a multiple uniform light in the room. Due to their compactness, they can be placed on the wall of a narrow corridor, in the lobby or in the bathroom.

As for sconces, it is considered a decorative wall lamp. Photos of this type of lighting can be seen below. Bra is usually chosen for living rooms, but do not limit it to it.
In general, cryphones and sconces are fundamentally different lighting devices. So, the first lamps are adjacent to the wall, and in the latter, they are located at some distance from the surface. All models of sconces, as a rule, are installed on the bracket-basket. Some devices provide for the possibility of adjusting the head, which allows you to direct the light flow to almost any place. This is convenient, for example, for reading text. For the children's lamp, the wall requirements will already be slightly different.
You can mount built -in suspended lamps into the wall. This can be realized during the construction of a false device, with volumetric surface sheathing with panels or during the installation of drywall partitions. The head of the lamps can be of two types: stationary and mobile. This is one of many than they differ from the plafones.
There are so -called conductive systems. With the help of them, you can create a design that will look like a ceiling-mounted lamp that has a smooth transition from the ceiling to the wall.
Types of cartridges and lamps
Most sconces and ceiling are available under the usual screw base. Most often, E27 and E14 basins are used, on which both incandescent lamps and halogen, fluorescent and some LED lamps work. Thus, the cartridges of wall lamps that are produced today can be safely called multifunctional. In these cartridges, it is possible to screw any of the above -mentioned basements.
The type of lamps largely affects the perception of light from the device. Today, lamps on which specialized cartridges are installed are quite common. For example, the cartridges of pin type G, designed for halogen lamps, can be mounted. Only a white glow of such lamps is not suitable for all interiors. Therefore, when buying, it is worth studying their marking.
On sale there are models of sconces equipped with a mechanism that allows you to regulate the brightness of the light flow (integrated rheostat). However, only incandescent lamps can work with such a mechanism.
The reducing transformer required by the halogen low -voltage lamps is often already built into the luminaire housing. However, there are devices that are not equipped with it. Then you will need to purchase it separately. In general, to buy wall lamps today is not a problem.
When choosing an adjustable wall lamp, it is necessary to remember that fluorescent lamps work only when installing a rheostat for maximum value. Because of what it makes no sense to regulate brightness in them.
Light flow
In the wall lamps, completely closed dispersion are installed to obtain uniform lighting. To direct the stream of light in one direction or another, you just need to open this dispersion from the right side.
Often on sale there are lamps without a diffuser. For example, classic models made of crystal, in which light sources are incandescent lamps in the form of candles. In such lamps, the E14 base is usually installed. For these lighting devices, it is advisable to choose low power bulbs, the flask of which has a matte coating. It will allow the stream of light not to blind your eyes.
Regardless of which lamps will be installed in the wall lamp, they can perform many different functions. The purpose mainly depends on how the luminous flux spreads. But when placing it, you should know what it will be closer to the wall, the more noticeable it will be possible textured defects. Therefore, instead of models with a directed light stream, it is better to choose another type of lamp wall. The price of any of them will be acceptable.
The material of the scatter
Today, light disper made of almost any material. The main thing is that it has the ability to skip light. So, for example, it can be made of:
- glass,
- plastic,
- fabrics.
With a change in the color of the lampshade, the shade of lighting in the room will change. Therefore, this must be paid special attention to this. Any of the materials has its advantages and disadvantages. Glass greatly attracts dust, the fabric can heat up too much, and the plastic is easiest to care for. The choice of material, taking into account its qualities, is especially important when selecting wall lamps for the bathroom.
Styles of wall lamps
Wall lamps are made from various materials and different manufacturers, depending on what style they belong to. It is customary to distinguish four of them:
- classical,
- modern,
- country,
- ethno.
Classic models made of crystal and Swarovsky crystals are usually produced by manufacturers from Spain and France.
Wall lamps in the Art Nouveau lamp are mainly produced by European manufacturers. However, the products of each such factory have national specialization. So, for example, German, Swiss and Austrian manufacturers most often produce LED wall lamps, embodying all the latest achievements of technology in them. Dutch and Italian masters often invite famous designers to work together, which undoubtedly affects the appearance of their products. It is they who often release models in ethno-style. Manufacturers of America and England specialize mainly in the production of lamps in the style of country.
Installation of wall lamps
- Installation of a wall lamp is very similar to the installation of a chandelier. This is especially true for wall-flowed lamps. The bases of such devices are usually attached over the insert, but in this case it will be deepened into the wall. Today, there are models equipped with a special plug. It is usually located at the base and allows you to connect it to a plug outlet. Thanks to this design, there is no need to mess with wires, which is especially useful in repair. After all, the device is quite simply removed and dressed.
- If the lamp is installed on the frame wall, then the cable can be drawn both above and below the wooden shelves.
- On the capital wall, it is advisable to lay the wire on the surface until it becomes possible to remove the groove. So that it does not stand out, you can paint over it in the same color as the wall is painted.
- Even before the installation of new lamps, you should think that there is convenient access to the wiring. If you want to hang a device in the room, which is located above the first floor, it will be more convenient to connect the devices to the upper lighting line. At the bottom of the connection are performed to the lower or upper line.
- When you decide on the place for fastening, you should check if there is already any old cable in the wall. Otherwise, you can damage it when laying a new one. It is possible to check its presence using a special detector of hidden wiring.
- In some cases, it is necessary not only to hang a new lamp, but to add it to the old. Moreover, the network should be common. In this case, you need to lay the chant from the new device to the old. Then you should connect it to the zero terminal of the switch. It is usually located on the ceiling in a camshaft. It is already a network from it to a new lamp.
- Before connecting a new wall lamp to the existing lighting wiring, you should check if the load will withstand after that. So, a maximum of 12 lighting devices should eat from the line, however, it is recommended to reduce this amount to eight. If there is a chance of overload, it is recommended to provide for the power of the installed devices from the power circuit through the wiring with the fuse.
- The distribution box allows you to connect more than two lighting devices to one cable. The veins of this wire should be connected to three terminals inside the box. Then connect the cables of the branches. In this case, it is necessary to isolate the bare parts.
- If the chandelier is replaced with a wall lamp, then you can use the existing wiring. For this you need:
- de -energize and remove the ceiling outlet;
- draw into the groove above the ceiling a network cable and a circuit breaker wire;
- observing the scheme of the ceiling outlet, we connect them in a new distribution box equipped with four terminals;
- now you need to connect the cable required to power a new lighting device.
For wall lamps, the most suitable installation height is 1.5 meters from the floor level. If the device is required for reading, then it is better to attach it a little lower so that the flow of light does not blind his eyes.
In some cases, the connection of the lamp to the wall to the power line is easier to make than the lighting lines. This applies to the case when the outlet is located on the same wall. For this you need:
- De -energize the room.
- Remove the lid of the outlet.
- Connect the wire with a section of 2.5 square meters. millimeters to a switching connective unit with a fuse of 3 amperes.
- Using a cable with a section of 1 sq. Connect a millimeter of the lighting device.
