In addition, the void, which is between the wall and the window, is often used to install a small amount of insulation material. This is especially effective if all walls are already covered with thermal insulation. However, the usual mounting foam, which also differs in good efficiency.
And the advantages of PVC platbands are as follows:
- An attractive appearance. As already mentioned at the very beginning, platbands can have a wide variety of variations. Accordingly, it is easier for the owners to choose exactly the option that corresponds to their ideas, as well as the appearance of the structure. Very often, manufacturers offer customers themselves to use their own options. For example, it can be original patterns or abstractions. However, often PVC platbands are created under wood. Accordingly, this is a neutral option that is perfectly combined with almost any dwellings.
- Cheapness. Since the platbands are made of PVC, the material is incredibly cheap. Previously, platbands were made of wood, and their cost was very high. Along with this, the wood over time loses its initial properties, as well as an attractive appearance, which can not be said about products made on the basis of PVC. In this regard, plastic platbands can be freely installed in all necessary places, not paying attention to the financial component of repair work.

Recently, it is the second option that acquires more and more prevalence. Surely everything is precisely for the reason that PVC platbands have embossed surfaces. It is worth saying that the original texture of the material is on the surface of ordinary wood.
Also, when buying platbands, you should pay attention to the method of attachment. Recently, manufacturers produce platbands along with latches. However, they may have some deformation shortcomings. Accordingly, such products may not be able to securely fix it. Accordingly, when buying, you need to pay attention to each unit of goods in order not to get into an unpleasant situation. And about the fasteners of PVC platbands, you need to learn in the first place, since much can depend on this aspect, up to the reliability of fastening.
The specifics of the installation of PVC platbands
First of all, you need to understand that the platbands need to be purchased only after the windows are bought (or the doors, if the installation of the platbands occurs around them). The fact is that the plastic product should correspond to the appearance of the windows. For example, if the windows have a black frame, then you should select the corresponding platform version.
As for the installation of PVC platbands directly, there are several options:
- Based on mounting elements. We are talking about standard fasteners, which are very often used in most building events. It is worth keeping in mind that this is the most reliable and durable option, since fasteners, such as dowels and self -tapping screws, have been used by builders for decades, so no problems can arise in principle. As for the choice of fasteners, on these issues it is better to contact consultants who will give good advice. Also, recommendations can give directly to the platbands.
- Based on original latches. This design is installed directly on the basis of a window frame. Thus, we get a holistic design that looks great, and also has a good quality. Many owners are distrustful of various latches, as they can easily be damaged. However, this is not entirely true. Modern manufacturers pay considerable attention to quality. However, the problem that excites many is that the platbands can be relatively easily removed. This is what some attackers use.
- Based on double -sided tape. This option is used extremely rarely, and even if the platband is flat and has extremely modest weight. Surprisingly, a double -sided tape copes with its immediate task, but occasionally the adhesive tape will still have to be changed. Also, adhesive tape can fail if the street is a strong wind.
Accordingly, if you analyze all these options, then the first looks most acceptable. It is also worth saying that often during the construction, platbands and windows are supplied from one manufacturers, so in this case, the latches will not work out by the latch. Installation of platbands based on fasteners
This process consists of several steps:
- To begin with, measurements of the window frame occur, this procedure is carried out from the top point and the lower. After this measurement, you need to add the width of the platbands. It should be borne in mind that often these elements are installed around the entire perimeter and at the level of the upper point. The choice of options for installing platbands depends solely on the preferences of the owners. Although, of course, the installation of platbands around the perimeter of the frame is the most successful option in terms of insulation of the building (more on that later).
- Next, cutting out the necessary components of the panels. It must also be borne in mind that it is necessary to carry out measurements especially accurately, since even small flaws are able to influence the final result of the work. As already mentioned, it is better to take a few extra platbands, since in the construction process a wide variety of problems occur that are difficult to foresee. The material is often cheap, so there should be no problems.
- Now it's time to make cuts at an angle of 45 degrees. This procedure is performed with each platband on both sides. Most often, special mounting angles are used for such manipulations, which already have all the necessary markings. It is worth paying attention to the fact that the butt between the elements should occur without any problems, therefore, in the presence of at least the slightest horseshoes, the created angle should be checked again.
- After that, the wall is marking, where the installation of the platbands will occur. There is also accuracy here, since after that holes are made using a perforator. The diameter of the drill should approximately correspond to the diameter of future fasteners. There will be enough two holes for each platband. Immediately after drilling, dowels are clogged into the created holes. They can be nylon or plastic - this is not fundamentally.
- Further, the platbands are applied to the surface, after which they are fastened with self -tapping screws. It should be borne in mind that fasteners should press the plastic material tightly, but do not overdo it, since the platbands are quite fragile.
Installation of insulation under the platbands
Many are interested in platbands only for the reason that they can install insulation under them. As already mentioned, this is actually a good opportunity to increase comfort in the home. However, it is worth noting in advance that the result of the work carried out will be felt only if the whole dwelling is already insulated.
To carry out this process around the window opening, there should be a gap. It should be borne in mind that this very gap can have various dimensions, and you need to pay attention to this. Visually existing space should be enough to install thermal insulation. If the gap is too small, you should limit yourself to exclusively by installing the platbands.
As for the heat -insulation installation directly, in this case, mineral wool is suitable. For installation, it should be folded so that the material looks like two -layer. After you need to try to accommodate the material into the gap. It will not be easy to do, but it is quite possible. An excess part of thermal insulation can be cut, but the insulation itself should protrude a little from the wall. It is worth making sure that there are no gaps between the wall and isolation. Next, the platforms are installed, which are tightly located to insulation.
Instead of mineral wool, as already mentioned, you can use the mounting foam, which also shows itself well as isolation.
