DIY cat house

Cats are one of the few pets who independently determine their favorite place in the house and spend most of their cat life there. And, of course, this place should be the warmest and cozy. Please your pet and create for him a real “Koshkin House” with all the amenities that satisfy the needs of a fluffy pet. Such a house can be purchased in any animal store, and you can also make a cat house with your own hands showing only a little fantasy.

Types of cat houses

There are three main types of dwellings for cats: sunbeds, squares of square or triangular shapes and houses with gaming devices for cats.

1. The sunbed is an ordinary basket sheathed with a cloth or carpet. Inside such a sunbed, foam rubber or other soft litter is laid. Soft sides of the cat's house are about 20 cm in height. This option is well suited for pregnant cats and already emerging offspring. Sometimes a small vertical pole is attached to the sunbeds, to which toys on the elastic band cling. For your cat, you can also make a felt sunlight, which is quite popular today. It is easy to care for, it only requires timely cleaning of wool with a vacuum cleaner. You can wash a home -made felt sunbed even in a washing machine.                                                                                                              
2. A standard house for a cat is a mini-version of a real house. It has a soft sunbed, walls, a roof and an input hole. Most often, to make such a house, plywood sheets are used, which are sheathed with soft material. Landing materials from velor and artificial fur are popular. To monitor the animal, the roofs of such houses are sometimes made removable. Near the house you can install a regular column made of wood or wrapped in a rope. This is done so that the animal can flood its claws. At the top of the column you can attach a toy or a small platform so that the cat can jump on it. This design does not require special care, it is enough only to break through the litter in time and ventilate the house.
3. House with a playground. It is a whole complex structure consisting of a house, small crossbars, shelves, steps and toys. This structure is suitable for several cats. Together, it will be much more interesting for them to play in a two -story structure. The number of tiers here may not be limited.

How to choose a cat house

When buying a cat house or, if you are going to make it yourself, you should pay attention to the following features:

1. Favorite place of a cat. It is better to put a new house for a cat in a place where your animal most often happens or loves to relax. Some secluded corner is ideal.
2. The height of the house. If you notice that your cat has adapted to sleep on chairs, chairs or other high platforms - immediately exclude the acquisition of an ordinary sunbed for it. You should think about a high house or its placement on some high surface. If the cat is more likely to rest on the floor or carpet, feel free to choose a soft sunbed.
3. The upholstery of the house. Of course, if the upholstery of the house smells unpleasantly with chemistry or plastic, the cat will never go there. Therefore, take care of choosing more natural materials for upholstery or high -quality materials.

Homemade house

Work on the creation of a cat house is an opportunity to freeze and make an unusual secluded corner for his pet, which will not have analogues. Using improvised materials, you can easily and quickly build any simple and convenient design for your cat. And in some cases, you don’t even need to come up with a drawing of a cat house.

DIY cat houses are made from all kinds of materials. This is cardboard, newspapers, papier-masha. Both pile and fleece fabric are used as covers.

You can also come up with an original hammock for a cat, which will be located on a warm battery.

Cat house from plywood

If you are going to make a house for a cat, then pay attention to the strength of the materials and the stability of the finished design. It should be remembered that the cat will never jump onto the structure that staggering.

Necessary materials:

• thick sheet of plywood (10 mm);
• plastic pipe (12 cm in diameter);
• corners for furniture (20 pcs.);
• natural rope;
• pVA glue;
• foam gasket and sheathing for it;
• drill and screws, jigsaw and screwdriver.

In order for the future design to be stable, it must be additionally screwed to the floor with screws, and then the animal will not be able to fill up the house.

1. From the plywood sheet, cut the walls of the future house. Dimensions must be determined independently depending on the size of the animal. As a rule, the optimal size is 45x45x45 cm. You need to cut out six blanks: side, upper and lower sides. On one plywood blank, make an input hole with a diameter of 16 cm.
2. Cut the corners of the furniture together all the parts of the house. For greater strength, the joints can be smeared with glue.
3. Before fixing the last part with the opening for the entrance, apply all the prepared walls on the inside with foam rubber or any other insulation material.
4. When the frame of the house is assembled, it should be attached to it from the plastic pre -wrapped with a rope. Metal corners are also useful for fastening.
5. At the top of the pipe, fix the shelf from plywood, upholstered with foam or cloth. This shelf will serve as an observation platform for your cat.
6. When all of the above is completed, the cat house will be almost ready. It remains to glue it with a fabric coating.
7. If the house is staggering, fix it with an additional sheet of plywood from below and then show the structure to your favorite.

Cat's house without nails

To make such a house, everything that is needed is just cardboard boxes. Such material is certainly available in the apartment of every owner. And as you could notice, with any opportunity, each cat will not miss the moment to jump and play in an empty box. It can be assumed that the cardboard house in your performance will appeal to the animal.

1. Choose a cardboard box to the dimensions of your pet.
2. Turn the soft litter to the bottom, and glue all the joints of the box with household adhesive tape. If desired, you can paste a cardboard house with any cloth or multi -colored paper.
3. In the front wall it remains to make the input hole and the house for a cat from cardboard is ready. A minimum of effort and imagination, but such a design will give your pet a maximum pleasure.

Cat house made of natural wood

For a house made of natural wood, pine is best suited. The walls of the house and supporting bars will be made from it. To wrap the bars, you can use a strong rope made of siser fiber. Just do not fasten it with brackets or nails, as the cat can injure paws.

For the manufacture of a cat house, provide yourself with wooden slabs and pine supporting bars. The size of the bars is approximately 25x25x800 mm.

Before starting work, prepare the claws. To do this, wrap the existing wooden bars with a rope and fix it with PVA glue, but not brackets. The height of the bars should be 1000 and 200 mm, respectively.

1. Make a rope well with glue and tightly wrap it on the bar to the bottom.
2. Prepared bars are attached to the base in the form of a wooden plank using hexagonal screws.
3. Then connect the side walls and the floor of a wooden box together with screws. Do not forget to cut the input hole on the front wall.
4. Pour the finished box without a roof with a carpet and attach it to the wooden racks. To do this, put the box on the lower column so that the side surface of the house adjacent to a high bar. By screws, fix the box on the side and below as shown in the photo.
5. At the bottom of the box, put a segment of the carpet and attach the ceiling wall.
