Water -based paint is a very popular material for repair. It has a water -repellent property and gives the surface a pleasant matte shade. This type of coating for ceilings is especially popular, as it perfectly replaces ordinary whitewashing, easily washes and does not require special care. In addition, the coating of water -based paint will cost relatively not expensive, and the color is selected independently with the help of special kings.

Whether to wash off water -based paint

If a layer of paint on the walls and ceiling is held tight, there are no refusions or areas on which the paint is not very good, then it is not necessary to wash it off. In this case, a layer of fresh paint is overlaid on top of the old. Previously, garbage and dust are removed from the wall, dried and primed. The primer creates a high -quality clutch layer on which a new coating will be even and efficient. Soils on the basis are not divided by several different types, under water -based paint they use acrylic.

1

If the layers of the old paint are not held tight, fall off, bubbles are formed in many places, then the paint must be washed off. Water -based paint is also removed if the overhaul is planned or the surface is covered with another type of materials incompatible with the water -based.

Another case that will require the removal of the old layers of the paint is the repainting of the room into another tone. If the color of the ceiling or walls is darker than the one that is planned to be applied, then it must be removed. The darker colors will appear through light, no matter how much the layers of paint are not overlap. How to wash off the paint from the walls is described below.

How to wash off water -based paint with water

To remove water -based paint from the walls and ceiling, patience and some tools are necessary:

  1. For work on the ceiling or with high walls, you will need a ladder or a high stable stool.
  2. A wide spatula with a metal base.
  3. A roller with a long pen.
  4. Cuveta or pelvis.
  5. A brush with metal bristles.
  6. Polyethylene film or newspaper.
  7. Glasses and respirator.

2

The water -based coating on the walls and ceiling is waterproof and not waterproof. In the first case, the method of removing the paint is slightly more complicated and it will be described below. The following method is suitable for non -resistant coating:

  1. Close all surfaces and furniture in the room with newspapers or film.
  2. The organs of vision and breathing in the performance of a person are protected with glasses and a respirator.
  3. Warm water is poured into the container.
  4. In the water, a roller is moistened and carried out on a layer of coating, which must be removed.
  5. Leave the pipe to soak for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Remove softened paint from the walls with a spatula.
  7. If in some areas the paint does not lend itself, then it must be moistened again with water or removed this area with a brush with metal bristles.

When applying water to the paint, it is not necessary to wet the entire wall or ceiling at once, since for now it comes to the turn of the paint, the coating will no longer be soft. It is necessary to moisten small areas and so move across the wall.

How to wash off water -based paint the thermal and mechanical method

There is a simple and effective way to relieve water -based paint from the walls and ceiling, but it provides for specialized tools. In the first case, a drill with a grinding nozzle is used for this, in the second - a construction hair dryer.

3

A grinding nozzle for a drill is a round brush with a metal bristle. Such an instrument addition is for sale in any store of building and household materials. With the help of such a nozzle, thick layers of paint and waterproof coating are removed, which cannot be washed. This is the advantage of using a drill. The disadvantage - during the work, a large amount of dust is distinguished. Also, a grinding machine is used to remove paint.

44

The thermal method is the removal of the coating using a special construction hairdryer. Such a device works on the principle of a household hair hair dryer, but a stream of air released by it has a high temperature. Small areas of paint are heated by this device, they crack and depart from the base. Next, the heated coating is easily removed with a spatula.

At the end of the work with a hairdryer, the entire surface is once again carefully viewed and proven those places where traces of paint remained. As a rule, small areas of the thin layer of paint remain, such flaws are removed using sandpaper or metal brush. Next, the surface is thoroughly washed or vacuumed to remove the dust that has settled on it. The thermal method of removing the paint is suitable for thick layers of paint and waterproof coatings. It has only one drawback - the need to acquire a construction hair dryer.

How to wash off waterproof paint

  1. The surface often covers not with an ordinary water -based, but waterproof paint, which does not lend itself to washing water. It is especially often used in bathrooms, toilet and in the kitchen - in rooms of high humidity. It is very simple to determine the resistance of the paint to water - to process it with warm water and leave it for 10 minutes, if after this time the paint did not begin to move away from the base, then it is waterproof and other methods must be used to remove.
  2. To remove waterproof paint, a hard brush with metal teeth is used. The upper layers of paint are carefully cleaned with this tool, trying to leave a large number of scratches on it. Moisture will penetrate these scratches and soften the paint. When the entire surface is scratched with a brush, it must be abundantly moistened with warm water and left for 10 minutes. Such an operation is carried out several times - they are applied and left so that the paint is well saturated and swelled. Be sure to ventilate the room during the procedure, this will accelerate the release of the paint from the surface. They finish such a process of removing the paint with an ordinary spatula, removing them all the layers.
  3. Effective for removing waterproof paint glue for wallpapers or a conventional fabric. It is applied to the old paint and any unnecessary thin paper. They glue it very carefully so that the paper is tightly glued to the paint. Next, the surface is left to dry. When the glue has dried, the paper is removed, pushing the spatula. At the same time, a layer of paint easily removes with it. At the end of the work, the ceiling is carefully viewed and removed those places in which areas of paint remain.

Two more methods have already been described above - thermal and mechanical, using a construction hair dryer or drill. Each of the described methods is effective, the choice must be made only based on the availability of certain tools and materials.

Other methods for removing water -based paint

1. Another answer to the question “how to wash off water -based paint” is to apply various chemical additives, specialized or ordinary household supplies. For example, if you add 200 ml of iodine to a bucket of water, it will be much easier to remove the paint:

  • remove the water -based coating using soap solution. It is applied to the surface with a brush or smear paint with soap foam, and then washed off with a rag. A few tips:
  • if an acrylic -based coating, then salicylic acid or vodka is added to the soap solution, since alcohol dissolves polyacril;
  • if the coating has impurities of latex, then dichloretan or chloroform is added to the water.

These additives release a large number of toxic substances, therefore it is necessary to use the respirator, and the room is thoroughly ventilated during the entire performance of the work.

2. Another simple way to get rid of the old layer of paint is to hide it behind panels or a suspended ceiling. Modern building systems save from the need to wash off the walls to give them a fresh look. Another progressive method of getting rid of the old coating is the destroyer of the paint. It is a gelatinous mass, which is applied to a small section of the washed -off, the time indicated in the instructions is wiped with a solvent of 646 and then scraped. This method is convenient for the lack of dust in the performance of work, but the execution will take a lot of time.

3. An alternative to destroyers of paint is washing. These substances include a large amount of solvent based on dimethyl chloride, antedic acid, isopropyl alcohol or other organic substances. They are absolutely safe for health and the environment, as they completely decompose in a short time. 5 m 2  surfaces on average requires 1 liter of substance. Shutings are effective both on old coatings in several layers, and on waterproof colors.

Washing tools for water -based paint

Many countries and brands offer customers to wash away water -based paint. But not all of them should be purchased and used in their housing. Some products contain harmful substances, such as hydrochloric acid. They are effective for removing paint, but will cause significant damage to human health. It is necessary to carefully read the composition when buying such a tool. In general, two manufacturers stand out:

  1. SET BOYA SOKUCU (set of battle) from Marshall Boy (Marshal Boy) Türkiye. This product effectively softens and removes water -based paint of all types. It is used on the bases of concrete, wood and metal. It is forbidden to use on plastic foundations. The composition of the product has an interesting combination of various organic substances, therefore it is as much in work as it is safe for health. The use looks like this - the product is applied to the paint, left for 15 minutes, and then remove the coating with a spatula. The finish processing of the wall is carried out with a cellulose solvent.
  2. Shuting the paint "Manor". It has a gel -like structure, suitable for removing all types of water -based paint from wood, concrete and metal, but not suitable for plastic. During work, the pairs of substance are distinguished in minimal quantities safe for humans. Softens the paint in 10 minutes. The finish surface treatment is carried out by any degreasing agent.

How to clean water -based garbage paint

During the repair, there are situations when a fresh bank with paint was littered and spoiled or garbage hit a fresh layer of paint. Often this happens due to poor -quality removal of garbage and dust after washing off the old layer of paint. In this case, it is not necessary to buy a new jar of paint or cover the wall with a new layer of coating, there is a way to correct the situation without such global measures.

6

  1. If a new bank of paint turned out to be littered, then all particles must be eliminated. Large pieces are taken out of paint with hands or improvised means. Medium -sized garbage is removed using a sieve - I pass the paint through it. It is not recommended to use littered paint, since all the particles that fall into it will spoil the appearance of the coating and violate its integrity, which will reduce the service life.
  2. If paints of different colors are mixed, then first they are mixed. Then they select the right tinted agent and gradually add to spoiled paint to return the original tone. This action is carried out only if the colors of the same type are mixed. If, with an acrylate water emulsion, polyvinyl acetate or, moreover, oil paint, then it is considered a damaged irreversibly.
  3. The most unpleasant situation is that garbage hit the fresh layer of paint. In this case, it is carefully cleaned with a fine -grained skin and applied another layer of paint. In case of large and very noticeable pollution, the paint must be applied again. To avoid such an unpleasant situation, it is necessary to carry out preparatory work on the wash of the old coating from the surface, rinse the wall after removing the paint or wallpaper and thoroughly wipe it with a rag. To cleanse the walls before painting, an ordinary or washing vacuum cleaner is effective.
