Lime is a popular wall decoration with disinfectants, not subject to fungus and mold. Most often, this type of decoration is found in public places where the coating is resistant to wiping and mechanical influences.

General information about lime

Lime is a mixture of substances that are a product of firing limestones. On the shelves of stores, the most often lumpy lime and fierce furs are found. Lime destroys all microorganisms falling on it, and therefore is the most hygienic type of finish. In addition, it has a high indicator of moisture resistance and strength. When the lime coating completely dries, a film forms on it, which provides such a resistance to lime whitewashing. Another advantage of lime is its low price compared to other types of finishing materials.

1

There are also disadvantages of lime. If the workshop does not know how to properly dilute lime, and makes the solution in an incorrect proportion, then bubbles, stains and stripes will appear on the treated surface. An excessively liquid solution will not give the desired color on the wall, but too thick when drying will begin to bubble and fall off. It is simple to avoid this - to breed lime strictly following the instructions and in the right proportion.

The scope of use of lime

  • In construction, lime is used as a plasticizer of solutions from cement. It prevents the cracking of the solution and binds it well. In plaster mixtures, it is an indispensable ingredient. Helps the coating on stone and wooden surfaces. For this purpose, only slagged lime is used.
  • In gardening is used to process trees and reduce acidity in the soil. For whitewashing trees, lime is mixed with copper sulfate.

2

  • In industry with lime, animal skins are treated, it is softened and disinfected by water.
  • In everyday life, lime is used to whitewash various surfaces - walls, ceilings, furnaces, etc.
  • In medicine, chlorine lime is used for disinfection of premises, devices and water.

Proportion of dilution of lime and its consumption

Lighting proportions depend on the type of material used. The lime of the negative and fierce lime of the fur is put on the shelves of stores. How to breed a second type of lime read below. As for the dumping of lime and the use of chlorine solution, this information is in a separate section of the same name.

The lime of the jacket fur is sold in two versions - powder or liquid dough. Both configuration is divorced in a ratio of 3: 1, that is, 3 liters of water per 1 kg of powder or dough. The result is about 8 kg of whitewashing, which is enough to process 12 m 2  surfaces. The consumption will increase if you whiten brickwork.

3

Another way to calculate, how to dilute the slagged lime correctly is to proceed from the general quadrature of the processed surface. For this for every 2.5 m 2  Take 500 g of lime and 750 ml of water.

The consumption depends not only on the type of surface, but also on the materials used for whitewashing - brushes, sprayers or others. The optimal materials for whitewashing will also be considered in a separate section. As for the cost of work, lime is not at all expensive material that will make finishing events not expensive.

How to dilute lime gathe

The process of breeding lime on the one hand looks quite simple, but, nevertheless, has some important nuances:

  1. Lime is mixed in small portions, you do not need to immediately connect a large amount of powder or dough with water. The maximum permissible value of water poured at a time is 1 liter per 2 kg of lime.
  2. When water and lime mix, a chemical reaction begins, the product of which is warm. Therefore, it is best to fill the powder with cold water.
  3. The mixture is thoroughly stirred and a liter of water is added, stir again. So they act until all the necessary volume of moisture is poured.
  4. Diluted and carefully struck the mixture is left to stagger for 24 hours.
  5. At this time, 2 kg of salt in 1 liter of water is poured into another container and mix until the salt is completely dissolved. It is best to prepare this solution already after the expiration of the slurry, otherwise the salt will settle in a day and it will have to interfere with it again.
  6. When the lime solution is ready, salted water is poured into it and interfere. The mixture is diluted with a small amount of water to bring to the desired density.
  7. Salt water and lime are mixed again and left for another 24 hours.
  8. Salt to lime is added so that it is less erased and remains on the hands and clothes when touching after drying. The whitewashing is carried out without a salt solution, for this, lime is only necessary to dilute with water and let it stand over the day.

How to extinguish lime

Unexpected lime is used as an astringent additive for plasters and various cement solutions. It gives the material plasticity and make its ligament with the basis more powerful. But to whitewash the surface is not good. It is optimal for this purpose to purchase a ready -made powder or dough a fur. If you have been bought ineffable lime for whitewashing, then it is not difficult to extinguish it.

Putting a lime with your own hands in the conditions of a dwelling is simply and is not dangerous. In industrial enterprises, a special hole is often used for this process, into which powder and water are filled in in the right proportion. The amount of water added depends on what the material obtained as a result should be thick or dairy.

The period of extinguishing lime is 24 hours, but it is optimal to withstand it for 36 hours. For extinguishing you will need lime itself, water and any long plaster item. It is necessary to work with glasses, a respirator and a canvas suit. Drops of the solution cannot be allowed to enter the skin, as it will damage them.

The capacity for extinguishing is taken clean and without traces of corrosion. Size and depth depend on the amount of material. Lime powder is poured into a container and poured with water in a ratio of 1: 1 - per 1 liter of water - 1 kg of lime. Unexpected lime emits a large amount of heat when interacting with water, the temperature reaches 150 s, therefore all the work should be carefully carried out.

5

You should also know that lime is boiling and sprayed when he is banging, but at the same time it must be constantly stirred. Active processes in the mixture take place for 5-30 minutes, and all this time lime is mixed with a long object. That is why such careful means of protection are necessary, as described above.

When the processes in the lime stopped and she “calmed down”, she is considered extinguished, but it is still early to start the material. The container is covered with a lid, put in a dark cool place and left for 2-3 weeks, in some cases lime is withstanded up to 4 weeks. A sustained necessary period of lime will perfectly fall on any surface.

Before use, repaid lime is diluted with water. Here the proportion is selected arbitrarily. The signal that lime is ready is a dense white trace on the stick, which is stirred by the solution during breeding. On average, of 1 kg of a mixture, 10 liters of whitewashing is obtained.

How to dilute chlorine lime

Chlorine lime is a well -known disinfectant called chlorine. It is widely used in domestic conditions, in industry, medical institutions and in public places requiring high -quality bacteriological treatment. Chlorine lime is divorced in different ways, it all depends on the purpose of its application.

For disinfection of the premises, 30 g of chlorine lime per 1 liter of water is added during cleaning. This solution is cleaned with dirt, fungi and mold, while the surface washed with such a solution will become sterally clean.

To remove the smell of urine of cats and dogs, chlorine lime is also effectively used. But it must be borne in mind that chlorine negatively affects animal health, its smell irritates sensitive receptors in the respiratory system of four -legged pets and violates the smell. Therefore, using chlorine lime in places of constant habitat of animals is not recommended. But if the pet “inherited” in the wrong place, then they are boldly used. To do this, it is diluted with water in a ratio of 1:10 and a smell source is wiped with this solution. It is necessary to work in gloves to protect the skin of the hands from chemical burns. Before the work, the reaction of the coating on the chlorine solution is checked in an inconspicuous place.

Apply chlorine lime to bleach linen. Chlocar is effectively coping with yellowed things and complex spots, but the use is allowed only for white things. In this case, there is no need to breed powders, since special liquid agents are sold for bleaching. They are used in such a proportion that is indicated on the packaging. Lighting is pre -soaked, and then washed in the usual way - with the hands or in the typewriter.

Warning: When working with chlorine, all safety measures must be observed. This substance burns the mucous membranes and skin, as a result, ulcers and swelling occur. If the chlorine enters the skin or mucous membranes, it is necessary to thoroughly rinse the place of damage to the water and consult a doctor, in case of pronounced wounds on it.

What additives are mixed with lime

Divorced lime before applying to the walls is ennobled, adding various substances to it. Such additives are liquid glass, salt, soap, glue, flour, milk, egg whites and collars for paints. Coils for colors go well with lime and allow it to give it any shade.

6

Adding to whitewashing linseed oil makes it more suitable for processing very smooth surfaces, on which the paint coating poorly falls. Glue and salt are whitewashed, after drying, it leaves no traces when touching. If you put up the additive of glue or salt and a ring into lime, then it will make excellent material for internal work in a residential building. In value, the use of lime is more profitable than painting walls with water -based paint or other types of materials, and it even surpasses many of them in quality and disinfectants.

Preparation of the surface for whitewashing

If diluted lime is available, then half of the work has already been done, now it remains only to prepare the surface and choose tools for whitewashing. The rules for preparing the surface and defeating are simple:

  1. It should not have fat and rusty spots. All traces before defeating must be removed.
  2. No defects. Small irregularities of the walls are eliminated with putty.
  3. After applying whitewashing to the surface, exclude all drafts and protect the room from direct sunlight.
  4. The surface whitewashed on a lime is not applied with a chalk layer, otherwise stains and stains will appear.

One of the most important points in whitewashing is the choice of the right tool for this process. There are several options. The most popular tool for whitewashing, which has established itself for many years, is a special brush. A tool that cannot be used in any case is a roller. The first layer of whitewashing, imposed by a roller, lies well, but when applying the second layer, problems begin, as the whitewashing stretches behind the roller and lags behind the wall.

7

For brick walls, it is optimal to use a brush with natural bristles. To hide the stripes that the brush leaves, the second layer is applied in the direction of the stream of light. Successfully used for whitewashing spray guns. With their help, lime is flat on the surface, while the flow rate is much lower than when working with a brush. Manual spray guns have a long hose, which are convenient to work on high walls and ceilings. Electric devices in this regard are less convenient, as the power button for them is located next to the spray. An ordinary sprayer for plants is also used to whitewash walls.
