Despite the tremendous popularity, Roman curtains were invented several millennia ago in Rome. The construction of the curtains remains unchanged, except that the designers made some changes, and the appearance of the curtains became more refined.
The main advantage of Roman curtains is simplicity. It is easy to care for them, so they can be used in any room, from the bathroom to the living room.
Advantages of Roman curtains
The Roman curtain consists of a whole canvas. On the wrong side, rings or loops are attached along the width. A strong cord passes through them, which is used as a mechanism for raising and lowering the curtains. Thanks to a simple design, the fabric is assembled according to the principle of "accordion".
Many hundred years ago, curtains were made from heavy fabric to protect the rooms from street dust. The curtains were a rectangular canvas, which, when raised, formed deep folds located at the same distance. The width of the fold was 20-30 centimeters.

Roman curtains equipped with a circular chain are installed differently. The mechanism is a cone or drum on which a chain is wound. Nuances of fastening curtains
Despite the simplicity of attaching Roman curtains, there are certain rules that you need to familiarize yourself with before starting the installation:
- even before going to the store, it is necessary to decide on the place of fastening: leave the window opening and the windowsill free - or hide it (if the slopes on the window are far from the ideal);
- many do not want to drill the frame of the metal -plastic window. In this case, you can attach the cornice in the opening or above the frame. You can use a flaw -carnide mounting method using double -sided tape or install the structure on clamps;
- over time, the strength of the fastening on the tape or clamps is reduced and still you have to drill holes in the frame and fix the structure to self -tapping screws;
- the curtain fixed on the window frame using clamps can prevent free opening of the window;
