Laws made of wood combine the advantages of natural materials and the functionality of the structure with a convenient control mechanism.
Varieties of wooden blinds
This type of blinds happens both in horizontal (lamellas are located parallel to the floor) and in vertical design.
Depending on the method of attaching blinds, horizontal wooden are: there are:
- interramic - fastening is carried out between window sashes;
- internal ones are attached on a special cornice from the inside of the window.
Traditionally, blinds are attached to the wall or ceiling. For rotary-oxide windows, fastening is carried out directly on the sash of the window with additional fixation of the string from below-which will freely open the ventilation window. In any case, wooden blinds will give the standard window opening of solidity and respectability.
Horizontal lamps are made with a width of 25 to 50 mm. Wide wooden blinds will serve as a much more reliable protection from the sun than standard aluminum.
Vertical wooden blinds differ, respectively, the vertical arrangement of lamellas, fixed on top of the cornice by holders and connected from the bottom using a chain. The width of vertical lamellas can be from 89 to 127 mm.
The device of wooden blinds
Structurally wooden blinds are a sunscreen consisting of wood lamelles, fasteners, control and connecting elements.
They produce wooden blinds from durable wood species, with lamps with a thickness of 2-4 mm, in various natural and tinted shades. They are made of cedar, beech, linden, traffic jams. To protect against burnout and deformation, an increase in the life of the lamella can be covered with special non-toxic varnish with water and dusting properties. The choice of shades and textures of wooden blinds allows you to harmoniously combine them with furniture made of natural materials and other elements of the interior of the room.
Blinds made of wood can be equipped:
- automatic control in the form of a switch or remote control with a radius of action of about 20 meters;
- cord decorative braid covering the technological holes;
- a variety of weights for cord control - both wooden and other materials - metal, glass, acrylic, skin, etc.
Features of choice and operation
You can buy wooden blinds in firms and online stores selling ready-made window structures, as well as manufacture to order. As an alternative to purchase, you can make them with your own hands. On sale there is a wide selection of such products in large stores selling goods for the repair and arrangement of the interior - for example, you can purchase wooden blinds of the Ikea brand. There are the following features of wooden blinds:
- in the places of the location of the holes in the lamellas, minor deformation is possible due to a violation of the structure of the wood array and moisture, the cord openings of wooden lamelles are usually not tinted;
- complexed blinds-wooden cane and weights can differ in shade from lamellas due to different wood structure;
- lamels of products can have varying degrees of dullness, which is the norm for this material;
- the structure of wood in the form of annual rings, cutting of knots is inherent in a natural wood massif and is not a defect in lamella;
- due to the features of the material, the use of this type of blinds in rooms with high humidity and significant temperature changes (due to the possible deformation of the surface of the lamellas) is not recommended;

DIY wooden blinds
If you want to get a unique thing, perfectly fitting into a particular interior, you can make blinds from wooden plates yourself. It is easier to collect horizontal blinds rising up.
For work, you will need:
- wooden strips 3-4 mm thick and 40-120 mm wide;
- thin cord or strong thread;
- self -tapping screws, an electric drill and a drill with a diameter of up to 2 mm;
- morilka and varnish for wood processing.
In order to make wooden blinds with your own hands, you first need to make accurate measurements of window openings to calculate the right number of wooden plates.
It should be recalled that you can fix the blinds above the window or directly in the window opening itself. In the first case, it will be necessary to drill holes in the walls and carry out a fairly complex installation of fasteners - in addition, it should be noted that this method of placing the blinds, visually conceals the volume of the room.
Estimatedly in the open form, the lamella is overlap each other by 1 cm. Thus, to calculate the number of plates, you need to divide the planned length of the blinds into a distance equal to the width of one lamella with a deduction of 1 cm.
The length of the plate of the blinds is calculated, with minus 4 cm from the width of the window opening (2 cm each on both sides).
For the manufacture of wooden blinds, the following sequence of actions is proposed:
- If the plates are made at home manually, they need to be fabbed, and also, if desired, treated with a stain and lay it down. The stain will emphasize the drawing of the tree and tints it to the desired shade, the varnish will create a protective layer on the surface of the wood.
- Having waited for the full drying of the lamella surface, drill three holes on the fastening threads in each plate (two from the sides of each bar in the center - at a distance of a few centimeters from the edge, as well as a hole in the central part of the bar closer to the edge of the lamella).
- In the side holes of the bar we spread a strong thread (thin cord) by 20-30 cm longer than the planned height of the blinds.
- Through the central hole of the bar we spread the thread with a length, twice as large as the height of the window.
- Strongly fix the lower bar at the ends of the threads.
- At a distance of about 4 cm, we tie the nodes on the threads (the size of the size of the hole in the lamellas). Next, we hang the next bar, again tie the knots and fasten the lamella sequentially from top to bottom.
- The finished canvas of the blinds is fixed at the top of the window frame with the help of side threads.
- The upper end of the central thread is transferred through the structure of the structure down and tied with a loop (or attach a decorative weight). Using this cord, the degree of opening of the blinds will be adjusted.

To care for the wooden details of the blinds, rubbing from dust with a dry or slightly moistened tissue cloth (or brush) is enough, it is allowed to treat the surface of the lamellas with a vacuum cleaner.
For most products, wet cleaning, the use of detergents, cleaners, solvents, aerosols - their substances can destroy the outer layer of wood, provoke the appearance of cracks and surface defects.
Wooden blinds will reliably protect from the sun, do not interfere with the passage of the flow of fresh air, and also create coziness and coolness in the room.
