The active forms of the arches include the structures of a complex form through which several rooms can be seen. Such structures are considered more decorative element. Their complexity will depend on the interior of the room.
Passive arch has a simple design. Usually such an arc can be seen in small apartments or small rooms in the area.

Well combines with ceilings and walls with small relief. Suitable for wide openings with thick walls. To highlight and emphasize the beauty of the arch, it is advisable to perform a tree finish.

Often this design is installed if the door is not needed. After its dismantling, the free space is decorated with panels of wood, mirrors, build niches, shelves and add lighting elements.
- Arch "Romance". It is less common than previous species. The design has two roundings and a flat part at the top. Looks very winning. Among the advantages of such an arch, a small consumption of building material was marked.
- Half a day. Stylish and popular option. This form design is more often chosen by young couples. It differs in that it can have a different circle or only one rounded angle.
The design of the plasterboard arches may also have such types:
- strengthened. For lovers of gothic style. The two planes of the arch converge at an angle, forming the top point of the design;
- an openwork arch is characterized in that in the upper part of it and both parties can be through holes;
- designer arch has several levels. Different with the design of an intricate form. It is almost impossible to make it yourself, because in addition to fantasy you need to have experience with drywall.
How to make a plasterboard arch
For the construction of the Arch, we will use drywall. This building material has a number of advantages:
- affordable price;
- easy mounted;
- the design is light, therefore it does not carry the extra load on the wall.
Attention! If the height of the doorway is less than two meters, then the arch is undesirable, because it will take part of the space. It will be more expedient to simply round the corners of the doorway.
Materials and tools
For mounting the arches from drywall will be required:
- plasterboard sheets (use special, sheet thickness - 6.5 millimeters);
- metallic profile;
- dowel;
- self-tapping screw (size 3.5 per 25 millimeters and 4.2 per 13 millimeters);
- construction knife for plasterboard;
- metal scissors;
- pliers;
- level;
- pencil or marker;
- drill;
- screwdriver or screwdriver;
- perforator;
- needle roller;
- duct tape;
- gypsum putty and spatula;
- sandpaper;
- corner (for registration of the edge of the arch);
- primer mixture;
- paint (or wallpaper).
First prepare the opening. Door box need to be dismantled completely. If necessary, the space can be slightly increased due to the wall. Surface cleaning from dust and dirt.
Preparation
- We proceed to markup. You can use a segment of plastic plinth or lining (we need any flexible material). Bend the strip to the arc shape and insert it into the prepared hole. We put tags in those places where the edges of the arch will be.
- Fresh metal profile. To do this, take the segments of the metal profile and install the guides: from above and on the sides. Hold it so that a small recess is formed, equal to the thickness cabarton thickness. Make sure that the distance between the right and left profile is the same, otherwise the arch will succeed.
- We take a dowel and insert them into the wall at a distance of 15 centimeters from each other.
- Now you need to set the profile into the arcuate hole. For this we take a metal profile. With the help of metal scissors, we make cuttings and give it the desired form. To the wall, the profile is attached to the dowels, and to the plasterboard with self-draws.
- To further provide the rigidity of the frame, in the space between the arcs you need to add a few more segments of the metal profile.
Fastening side panels
For side parts of the arch, it is possible to use wall plasterboard. The markup is performed using a pencil, homemade circulation or flexible plate. Cut the contour of the arc is better than an electric bike, a saw for metal or a sharp construction knife. The side panels are attached to the self-tapping screw.
How to make bending and sunmother drywall
- To make a neat bend of drywall and close the end part (lower) design, cut the strip. Its width and length should correspond to the sizes of the frame.
- Perform accurate measurements. To do this, use the construction flexible meter, add ten centimeters to the resulting digit.
- In order for an arc from an ordinary segment of drywall, it is necessary to moisten it with water from the bottom and walk along the needles of the needle roller. When the drywall surface softens a little, start gently bend it. Secure the arcuate design to the arc on the sticky tape and leave up to dry. Remember that it is impossible to water the water drywall, because it can soften and crack.
- Now it remains to secure the strip by self-draws on both sides. Start fixing the workpiece from the middle.
- Wait until the plasterboard is completely dry.
If the arch of the plasterboard arch was scheduled, then at this stage it is necessary to do holes in the drywall for mounting the lighting equipment.
Decoration Arch made of drywall
After building the arch, it should be prepared for the decoration. With the help of a brush and primer mixture, it is necessary to handle the surface well and leave 24 hours until complete drying.
Options for trimming plasterboard arches are a lot.
Consider popular:
- decorative mixtures;
- pasting wallpaper;
- decorative stone finish.
Decorative stucco finish
To finish the arches with a decorative mixture, first it is necessary to treat the surface with an ordinary putty. Drain the dry mixture with water (read the proportions on the package) and with the help of a spatula, apply a solution with a thin layer. When it dry, irregularities need to be cleaned with sandpaper (or grinding sand) and process the surface with a primer mixture. Now you can apply a decorative mixture to give the arch unique relief.
When decorative plaster is completely dry, it can be covered with a thin layer of paint.
Finishing Arch by wallpaper
To finish the army from drywall, wallpaper will not be much labor. Even newcomer can cope with this work.
Plan of work on pasting Arch by wallpaper:
- Divide glue according to the instructions. Make sure that the mixture is homogeneous, without lumps.
- Prepare the lane of the desired size. First you need to stick the wallpaper on the wall near the arch. This is necessary in order for the next strip to cover arched opening. After sticking the band cut the protruding part, leaving two or two and a half centimeters on the allowance.
- Make small cuts on the free edge (point).
- Turn the wallpaper to the slope and glue to the surface. Try to press paper tightly so that the wallpaper is not left.
- Puck in the same way and the second side of the arch.
- It remains to take the arch arch. To do this cut the strip, the width of which will be equal to the depth of the opening. Its length should be a little more than the size of the arch. So it will be easier for you to move the strip to combine the drawing.
- Send wallpaper with a dry towel to remove air bubbles.
Decoration arches with decorative stone
Arch decoration with decorative stone will give the room a nobility. Such an arch will last several decades.
How to make a stone finish:
- For decoration, the stone does not necessarily strive to align the perfect surface.
- Prepare the solution. Depending on the type of material, its composition may differ slightly. Standard solution consists of sand, glue, lime and cement. If you do not want to make a solution, you can purchase special glue "Liquid nails".
- Take the stone and put it down - at the junction of the wall and opening. Press tight to the wall.
- In order not to close the corners, the stone can be laid on each other "Vangest".
- Stones installed along arc arches should be cut exclusively by its radius. To do this, you can use grinding machine or nippers.
- The seams are closed with a solution (it should be sold along with a stone).
